The talk of new BSN grads being out of work for months on end down in the City and surroundings is making this upstate BSN hopeful a little nervous.
So... how's the job climate upstate? Western NY, Southern Tier, 'Dacks/ North Country, Central NY, Catskills nurses... you all know there's more to New York than the City ... are there jobs for new grads? Or is the climate just as bad as downstate?

In middletown ny (orange)county they have a new hospital that is hiring, which has left Arden hill, Horton hospital, and a few smaller ones down staff. The name of the hospital is called Orange Regional medical. I am unsure if you have to have a BSN to work the floor.
I know Hudson valley alliance is always posting for jobs and most positions do not require
A BSN. If you really want to try to get experience, and you don't live far away, Ellenville Regional Hospital, takes new grads. The down side to this hospital is that they have a low census, and nurses get called off ALL the time. It doesn't get busy at all. Sometimes there is only 5 people in the hospital at a time.
Thanks for your response!
I know Ellenville. It's close to the Gunks, a rock climbing destination. :-)
Working in their hospital, I imagine you'd see some injured climbers now and then. :-(
Any one know about counties farther north and west?

I applied to both Orange Regional Medical Center and Hudson Valley Heath Alliance and i'm still waiting for an interview. I recetly got my license and i have a BSN. I am real woried that i will not be able to get a job. At this point it seem that having experience is much more impotant to them than a BSN or Associate. I have been told by so many places that i must have at least a year experience before they will even consider me for a positon. Hopfully i'll be able to get a job soon.
