I am applying to the Second degree nursing program at UPenn. I've decided not to go for the direct entry BSN/MSN program since I am not at ALL ready for the GRE (if they decide that I absolutely HAVE to take my GRE then I will), I'm sure I want to get an advanced degree in nursing, but I have multiple intrests and want to get more in depth info once I get into a BSN program. I know it's extremely expensive ($59,000 if you decide to live on campus, which I may have to do) but I am still intrested in my chances of attending this program. Is there anyone else that is applying for next year? Any past students that can attest to the cirriculum? Is it possible to work part time while attending or should I just let that dream go right now? Did anyone live on campus while going to school? I've been trying to do a board search for past experiences/anyone that's applying for this year and there was too much to sift through. So I figured I'd start a new thread!
I know! The financial package is one of the number one reasons I want to go to UPENN. I am also very attracted to their program since they have lots of health initiatives and top clinical opportunities. Not to mention the fact that they're one of the top nursing programs in the country.
I am really worried about the tuition for all of the nursing programs I applied to, but at least UPENN would be well worth it! Did you apply to any other schools? I've been accepted to my back up schools (Samuel Merritt/MGIHIP) and waiting to hear back from OHSU, UMass Boston. Going to apply for NYU soon too!
Being that the program itself is so expensive, I worry that even with a good financial aid package, I may still end up paying a lot (their penn grant maxes at 40k). I know it's a loan-heavy program but I pray they will continue to give great financial aid packages like they do every year. aside from upenn, I also applied to columbia's ETP, SUNY downstate and SUNY stony brook. I found out I was accepted into SUNY stony brook earlier this month and am thrilled about my first acceptance :)
I was also thinking about applying to NYU and UMDNJ in case I didnt receive good news but I'm so glad Stony Brook sent out their decisions so early because it saved me time and money haha.

Congrats on your first acceptance! When does SUNY start? I have to send in deposits next week, so I was hoping UPenn would send decisions next Monday. But still no word! I also have the same problem, these app fees are so expensive, but I was scared I wouldn't get in anywhere.
Thanks for the Penn grant info. I had no idea it was limited to 40K. I have been trying to apply to scholarships, but it's been rare to find ones that I am eligible for. Either they want someone who is already enrolled in a program, or working on their first Bachelors.
I am waiting for the Nurse Corps 2013 applications to open. Other than that, I will probably end up taking out more loans. But I say it's an investment! When we become nurses we can securely pay them off. :)
