Hi there,
I was surprised there wasn't already a thread for those applying to UPenn's direct entry program since the threads from previous years were so active, so I thought I would start one where this year's applicants could gather. :)
I'm just hoping to get to know some other applicants so we can support each other through this nerve wracking process! My name is Michelle and I am applying for the Nurse Anesthesia specialty, I'm in the process of working on my personal statement. Any others out there?
Hey guys! We've just created the facebook group. You can search for it by name on FB: Penn ABSN/MSN Summer 2014 Cohort.
My fellow co-chair for Accelerated Peer Advising is Tom Shluger, and he is the manager for the page. We'll be posting useful information there, so check in regularly. :)
Yikes so sorry about that guys! Can you try this link and let me know if it gets you there? https://www.facebook.com/groups/265456536962731/.
The privacy settings are set up so that any one can search for it and see who the members are, but only members can see what is posted. Again the group is called "Penn ABSN/MSN Summer 2014 Cohort." If all else fails, trying friending Tom or myself on FB, or PMing me with your email address and I can add you directly!
Hi Sarahcee,
It is reassuring to know that almost everyone receives some sort of scholarship money. You also made a valid point, comparing the program lengths with the cost, as many ABSN programs are a only bit over 12 months in duration.
Your response means a lot to me. I know that cost and student debt will be the ultimate factors that drive my decision between schools. Thanks for the detailed reply.
Thanks!
Hi all! I was accepted into the ABSN program starting Summer 2014. I know this is the ABSN/MSN forum, but I had a really important question that perhaps some of you current students could answer, and it seems like you're more active on this forum vs the ABSN one.
I don't really have any immunizations (long story) and I need to get caught up before classes start. I'm mostly concerned about the Hep B series, since the entire process from dose 1 to dose 3 takes ~6 months. If I've started my series, but haven't completed it, could I still participate in clinicals? Has anyone had this experience?
Thanks!

Hi ND_Irish! I've sent you a PM with some helpful information. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Good luck to everyone who will be starting the program this year! For those of you who are on the waitlist, I know one of you will get a very happy call or letter soon since I am declining my spot for the BSN and MSN programs. Ultimately it's my first choice but just too expensive for the BSN. On to the next!

You should definitely contact them and let them know about your situation! It can only help. :) You might be happy to know that there are a few (or at least 2) girls whose husbands who are either in med school or residency here! I can definitely see about putting you in touch with one of them if you'd like. :)
