Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for folks applying to UPenn's Accelerated BSN-MSN program for the 2023 start.

Feel free to introduce yourself, ask questions and offer guidance and support to other candidates. Please be respectful and kind and remember that this is a long, exhausting, expensive, stressful journey for lots of people. Let's do our best to uplift and help each other. Good luck!

Hi! I made a facebook group for those of us that have received an acceptance into the UPENN ABSN/MSN program for 2023

Thank you! I requested to join :)

Is anyone else considering other schools/programs? I don't see a lot of reviews or feedback about UPenn on facebook or blogs. However I did apply to Johns Hopkins and there is a lot out there to read about them. I'm also waiting for Columbia and Emory.
Have any of you found a good place to get insight into UPenn's program from students who attend or who have attended? Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing! I have applied to other schools too. I have been watching YouTube videos of students at UPenn. UPenn admissions also just sent an email today about admitted students day and academic program information that is happening a few weeks from now.

I also was curious about finding out people opinions on their experience at UPenn especially for the accelerated BSN portion. I don't see much but I do have friends and family who were UPenn students in other disciplines and they are big fans. I'm local to the area too so if you haven't visited or know much about Philly and the surrounding towns, feel free to ask me!

Hi! I've never been to Philly. What would you say it's like there and what areas are best to live in that are close to Penn? Also, what's it like to have a car there?

Does anyone know how much the AG scholarship gives?

Does anyone know how many are awarded the AG scholarship?

Anyone here apply just for ABSN?

Hey, has anyone heard back?

Hi I've never been there either but I've talked to a few students and looked at their website for information about Philly. For the ABSN portion you don't really need a car, but for the MSN portion it is likely you will need a car as primary care is mostly private practices and you may need to travel further out. Here's a website I used to learn more about neighborhoods to live in for off-campus housing: https://cms.business-services.upenn.edu/offcampusservices/getting-started/neighborhoods.html

I believe it's 20k but could be wrong. I'm not sure how many students were selected but I think it's only a handful, and I think those students were already contacted.

It's a creative and diverse city, but smaller and less ritzy as NYC or DC. West Philly, Southwest Philly, Manayunk, and the surrounding suburbs, especially along the Septa train lines to the west/northwest are the best places to live nearby. Having a car there is ideal but if you live in center city or travel there often it can be very expensive to park. There is great public transit however. I personally moved out of the city years ago after being there 5 years and have no regrets but if you love good food, live music, art, community, etc you will love the city. I'm also a bit older to be fair, I graduated my undergrad 8 years ago.
