Posted this elsewhere and got a poor response:
I am updating my resume. I have 10+ med-surg years experience but I am having difficulty summarizing it for my resume. It seems I know how to do so much but can't quite get it on paper. My hospital has the usual variety: ortho, chest pain, surgical, medical, geriatric and gyn pts. I also work in peds. I am an LVN in Texas. I work independently (under charge RN) with a tech caring for my own 5-6 patients.
Any suggestions?

If you list some of your skills, I'm sure we can help you put something together.
well, I do the usual nursey stuff- I have my own group of 5-6 patients and we do total patient care so I pass meds, put in NG tubes, dressing changes, G-tube feeds, foley's, IV starts, hang antibiotics, monitor blood transfusions, check blood sugars, call the docs with lab results, take verbal/phone orders. I also work on peds- start IV's, give meds...I'm familair with IV pumps, CPM's, SCD's, SureTrans and chest tubes
I have my ACLS and in July am taking PALS (mine lapsed)
I was empolyee of the month for December and I attend school part-time (RN pre-req's) and I have a 3.8 GPA. I was also nominated for a Creative Writing award at my college.
Maybe I need to get a different format for my resume cause it seems like I just answered my own question
