Update on Georgia Multistate Licenses

So for those of us who graduated from Excelsior College, who have a license from South Carolina but currently lives in Ga and has not completed the 320 preceptorship hours required by the state of Ga, does that mean we still have to complete those hours? I'm interested to know.

I really don't know. How many hours of RN time do you have at this point? Would you meet endorsement requirements now? It will be interesting to see how this is handled. In theory, you should just be able to endorse your license.

They have updated the page and clarified. Nurses will be able to work in Georgia on a multistate license as long as they maintain residency in the state that granted them the license. Having a multistate license will not mean automatic endorsement. Per the website, "In order to receive a multistate license in the eNLC, a nurse must meet the home state's qualifications, graduate from a board of nursing-approved nursing education program, pass the NCLEX-RN® or NCLEX-PN® Exam, have no active discipline on their license, submit to a criminal background check, have no prior state or federal felony convictions and have a valid Social Security number." So if a nurse's education does not meet Georgia licensing criteria, Georgia cannot become his/her home state.

Thanks for the post Pixie.RN. I am presently employed at the VA hospital. I was hoping to get started ASAP working as a RN outside the VA. But it appears that I will either have to do the preceptorship hours or to continue working at the VA hospital for a year and then get my SC license endorsed for GA.
