I started thursday. First day we had a quiz on medical terms and the first chapter in A&P. I received 100s on both. The amount of homework assigned for the next day was about 5 hours worth. It is A LOT of information but I am ready and studying all weekend (3 day weekend) for the quizzes on Tuesday and the Test in A&P on Wednesday. Good luck! Keep us posted on how you are doing!
Just finished my first week and man am I glad it's over!!! I feel like within one week my whole life has changed--I go to school, study, & sleep. That's it! I have no idea how people who are working full-time too are going to do this; my teachers told them straight out that nobody they've ever taught who's worked full-time during the program has passed.
My friends & my family all think I'm mad at them because I can only text them on breaks from class, and usually during that time I'm busy doing stuff like eating a snack or going to the bathroom. Sorry, but if I have a choice between getting to pee or texting you back...I'M GONNA PEE. lol! They all are confused why I can't text during class...ummm maybe because we're busy learning! Normal college has a lot of downtime where you can take a break from paying attention and text or go on facebook on your laptop...but if you do that during nursing classes, you miss really important stuff. We're learning every minute! And my A&P class is incredibly hardcore. I don't even dare to look at the time on my phone because I believe my teacher would throw me out, lol.
Anyway, I have a skills check off, an a&p test, and a fundamentals test next week, so back to studying I go...
pomegranate, where are you going to school? sounds like my school. we are now going full force. thank god i took 2 classes over the summer (a&p and nutrition). we now have FON, GDB and we start Pharm on monday. we also have to get checked off on skills in lab. yesterday we did enteral feedings. things are finlly started to go a little more smoothly and the rhythm is feeling right. it is very exciting but nervewracking because the test questions even though they are multiple choice always have 2 answers that can be right, how the heck do you pick the right answer??????? any suggestions. good luck everyone. i'm too old for this, in my 40's......haha ...kidding, i love it
I've been in school for almost a month now, and it's getting tougher. It's very fast passed. Since AP wasn't a pre-requisite at my school, we are learning that on top of the regular nursing stuff. I've been passing all of my exams so far with at least 80%'s or higher. I'm very worried about when we get to the part that deals with calculating meds using algebraic equations, because I'm very bad at algebra. : (
I had orientation this past Thursday which seemed long, drawn out and unprepared. There are a lot of students (which I'm a bit bumbed about), seems like there's over 25 (and there's not supposed to be), I'm gonna take an actual head count on Mon. There wasn't enough space in the classroom or computer lab to hold everyone. We were supposed to get scrubs but won't be getting them till Wed .
I start on Monday and I'm nervous and excited. My first three classes are A&P I, Nursing Math and Freshman Orientation. There's a test in math we have to pass w/ an 86 and we only have two tries the first week which is this coming week and the last week of the term (in 5 weeks). So I'm a bit nervous about that and have been working on math all weekend. My hubby's been a big help since he's good at it. Well...wish me luck and I'll take prayers too !!!! Glad to hear everyone else is doing good and still holding on.

I thought I would start this thread to see how everyone who started their LPN/LVN program for the fall 2009 semester is doing.....
Took my first test last week, and got an A another test on Tuesday. We have five tests in Fundamentals over a six week period that we must pass with a 75% or better to go on to clinicals this is along with our Pharmacology final that must be passed with a 75% in order to continue in the program.
So, how is everyone else doing?
