UofM Flint

Published

I am a 32 yr. old male and applying to U of M Flint for the pre-nursing program. Anyone attending or thinking about it? Would like to get a feel for how the nursing program is set up there. Is there a wait list? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I graduated from U of M Flint within the last year. Its a good program, but in my opinion we didn't get enough clinical time. Had I not externed, I would have most definatly had a rough time as a new nurse (if it isn't rough enough as it is!!!). The staff is great, I learned a lot, especially from my clinical instructors. If its still the same, which I assume it is, there isn't a wait list, you just apply, write an essay, and submit your transcripts, and contrary to what people say, they really don't base it only upon who has the highest GPA. The actual nursing program itself is 6 semesters, fall and winter (no summer or spring classes) for a total of 3 years. I'm not sure how many people they take in each class, but I believe we started out with 40 or so. It might be more now! Anything else I can answer?? Hope that helped a little! :-)
