Unsure about my job

Published

I I work on a med surg floor for 10 years. During that time I was a charge nurse and preceptor. In 2008 I took 3 months off for breast cancer treatment then came back everything was fine. Then 6 years later I had blood cancer and had to leave for 13 months. They did give my job away but I was able to get a position back because one opened up.

The weird thing is that now I am treated like a new grad no longer being able to charge or precept.

the floor is very busy and I am now 50 years old and think it would be a good time to get off this floor and transfer to another unit.

The problem is I have filled out an application and had an interview to be transferred to another floor the interview went well but no one will call me back? They keep saying they will get back to me but never do? There are many openings on the floor but I get no response? In the mean time med Surg nights gets harder and harder and my knees are killing me. I started at this hospital as a new grad and feel that now I'm being spit out? Any ideas on how I should interpret this and what direction to take? Feeling stuck...

Ageism, no question mark needed it's a fact! I hope you were able to get into something better!

Thanks, working in a much better place with a huge decrease in stress.

I am applying for a corrections Rn position at the sherrifs department. Does anyone have any insight on what it's like to work in corrections? Thank you
