It really depends on the school(s) you're applying to. Your best bet is to visit the school's website and look their requirements and how the calculate GPA. If you can't get information that way, go to campus and talk to a councilor in the department. Good luck.

That sucky part is that all of the schools are so far away, hours and hours away.... I'm in Florida. Not really trying to leave FL I have a Fl scholarship... anywhoooo I have yet to see a school, University anyhow, that discuss how they determine gpa calculations. I've even called and asked and still not a clear answer just, "there are many factors." LOL

Let me know what schools you're looking into and I'll see if I can do a little looking around for you.

wow mjmoon that is really nice of you. I'm looking into University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, University of Florida and Florida A & M University. I have info on the community colleges, and know that I will be able to get in with no problem there but if I can get into a BSN program right off the bat, then I'd be all set! thanks again mjmoon.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. There is a ton of information at each of these school's webpages. I've included links for each of them in the information I've included here. I hope you find this helpful. Let me know if I can help further.

According to USF- If you are transferring- GPA requirements are different depending on the AA degree you have attained. Here is a link to find out more information about this.

According to USCF, "Applicants must earn a "C" (2.0) or better in all prerequisite B.S.N. courses." There is more information on what prereqs they require here.

According to the UF website:

  • Completion of two sequential courses of foreign language in secondary school or 8-10 semester hours at the post-secondary level, or documentation of an equivalent level of proficiency.
  • An overall GPA of at least 2.8.
  • A GPA of at least 2.8 in all required pre-professional courses.
  • A grade of C or better in all required pre-professional courses.
  • Fulfillment of the College Level Academic Skills Requirement (CLASR).
  • Satisfactory completion of communication and computation requirements

FAMU:

  1. Obtain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, for all coursework attempted.
  2. Complete all general education and science courses required by the School of Nursing.
  3. Earn a grade of “C” in all required pre-professional courses.

thank you mjmoon! I went to see an advisor today and learned what my actual gpa was. I think that was one of my bigger concerns! Now that I know what colleges I can potentially send an application too, it would be perfect to know how the applications are actually scored. I've been to these school sites a few times but I never really gt a feel for what it is that holds the weight! Some schools, aside from these, clearly indicate where the weight is or if they are on a point system tell you flat out, so it is alot easier to determine whether or not to submit an application... any how, thank you very much for taking time out of your day to assist! It was greatly appreciated!!
