UNLV SON FALL 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! :)

Since the Summer 2018 cohort is about to be announced, I thought I would start the forum for Fall 2018. Who else is applying? I hope the cut off score isn't as high as it was last fall!

I feel like people with points ranging from 98 up will get calls on Monday.

Also, I think many people were scared to apply which frightens me because that would mean only excellent people applied with high scores :(... I cannot sleep you guys!

I️ have thought about that too! Then I try to rationalize it all, which causes anxiety! Then I️'m like what if they don't calculate my score correctly?! But I️ think at this point, it does not help us to worry about things outside of our control. The best we can do is try to keep a positive mindset! I️ feel like they would do it after the 4th, but I️ hope you end up being right about Monday!

I SURE HOPE SO! Just so I'd have stuff to do to prepare and stop worrying so much about fake scenarios I come up with

For those who will probably get calls early, if you don't like ordering stuff online and prefer actually seeing the quality of a product, Scrubtastic is a pretty cool store. It carries mostly scrubs, which are great quality, but they also have other stuff that we may need for clincials like compression socks, hemostats, stethoscopes, pen lights, blood pressure cuffs, trauma shears, and shoes. I go there with my sister all the time. And for those who are planner freaks like me, Michael's is having a sale and i went there a couple days ago and saw that their awesome planners were on sale too! (if you love planners you will totally understand lol). If anyone knows of any other stores, let us know please!

I have shoes and a stethoscope already I'm so excited and ready! My friend in the program said the school provides a stethoscope though so all the students match.

What shoes did you go with? A friend of mine has already purchased a few pairs, and I was going to follow suit and grab a few but I am afraid of buying ones that we aren't allowed to wear. I know they are supposed to be white leather, but can they have shoelaces, or are they supposed to be more clog-like (Danskos)?

I'm assuming they can have laces lol. It'd be a pretty dumb rule if they can't. Mine are all white with laces from Ecco. Not common at all but super comfortable imo

Yesss! Fellow Planner nerd right here! Haha! But I️ think I️'m going to try Bullet journaling as my planner this semester! Etsy has some cute and cheap ones! Home Goods also does!

I️ heard that there is a book bundle at the bookstore that we can buy when we get into the program. But people who are in the program already have told me to rent my books (from places like Amazon) because it's way cheaper. Also, I️ have also heard that if you choose to buy the books new, you can either buy the ebooks or actual physical books.

So, we cannot by our own stethoscope? If I get in, I want to have a pink one lol Also, I was reading over the student book a while back and it says we need white leather shoes for clinicals. I was trying to find it again to see if its the same requirement.

I just saw the previous post. Ignore my last question...

I bought a Littmann stethoscope in Caribbean blue so i could match intern Meredith Grey lmao í ½í¸‚

Has anyone tried out the Dansko shoes? Online they are rated as the top shoes for nurses but they seem so bulky to me i dont know.
