UNLV SON FALL 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! :)

Since the Summer 2018 cohort is about to be announced, I thought I would start the forum for Fall 2018. Who else is applying? I hope the cut off score isn't as high as it was last fall!

Yea haha the increase to 56 got my hopes up somehow. The 2 classes I'm doing right now are bio 224 and nur 299 and I'll prob get A- at least on them. I'll think it over tonight and If I don't apply this semester I'll definitely go for Spring! Thanks for all your inputs :)

Have you met with a counselor and made sure you have all the other classes you need (notniust the ones on the worksheet). Such as all of the gen ed requirements like US/NV Consitution, English, etc? If you have, then I don't think it'll hurt you to apply since you will have a sky high score in Spring. Especially since there really isn't anything for you to take in Fall, haha.

Yea I have all my gen. eds done already. Haha that's why I'm thinking of taking a chance for Fall because I'll have nothing to do. I called the office this morning and they said I need an official transcript but I don't think I can request one before Friday ): anyone knows if 2-3 days is the shortest processing time for an official transcript? Gahh everything feels so rushed lol this is bad haha I only recently thought about applying for Fall because I just retook the HESI yesterday and my score was pretty decent haha otherwise I would be more prepared

Usually you can get a rush on them for extra money. Are you taking the classes at UNLV? I don't know why they'd need officially transcripts of classes you're taking @ UNLV, unless you have some other course from a different institution that they need to see. But I'd call to see if you can get a 24 rush. You probably can.

When you went in for your signing did they make you bring an official transcript? Yea I took the classes at UNLV I ordered mine online today and it says 2-3 days so I'll prob call in tomorrow to confirm haha

For the Fall, you can think about doing a minor or just taking the Fall off. I️ have friends that just got into the summer cohort do both of those. You shouldn't need an official transcript from UNLV since you took the classes there. You would only need a transcript if you took the classes elsewhere. For the signing session, all you need is your HESI report and the application. If you want to apply with those classes, your grades would have to be already posted. So the last signing session is this Friday. You would have to have your grades posted by then, but if you're taking those classes right now, there would not be enough time. Good luck!! I️ hope everything works out in your favor. :)

Once you sign up for a session, they'll let you know if you need any additional info. I needed an official transcript for mine because I am taking Stats at a different school right now and they needed proof that I'm taking it.

If you're gonna do it, sign up tomorrow for the final session on Friday assuming it's not full. They'll tell you all you need, but I assume you won't anythign aside from your HESI scores.

Also, are you including the extra 0.5 points from Rebel Recognition? Since you took all your classes @ UNLV, you'd qualify for that.

No, unfortunately I don't qualify for the 0.5 because I'm a transfer student. I only took the 6 classes needed for the points for nursing app and a couple gen.eds. So I think they need the official transcript from my previous school, which is weird because they definitely have it when I applied for transfer. But I'll call the office tomorrow to ask!

Anyways, are you guys nervous about starting nursing? I have a cousin who is in his first semester right now and he said he has a mental break down every 2 days haha it sounds really intense

I'm a transfer also. If they already have them they'll and there aren't any courses that you've taken at the other schools since you've transferred, you definitely won't need them. Tell them that tomorrow. In fact, when you register for the signing session, ask which advisor is running it so that you can email her/him immediately.

I am, but more excited than anything. I don't know anyone who has done UNLV's program, but I know people in nursing and they all say it's intense. Maybe even more so with UNLV's program since it's accelerated!

@forevertired love the name because same lmao. And I'm beyond excited for the whole process to FINALLY begin! Does anyone know about when calls should start next week?

I️ am so excited!! It's like I️ have been talking about nursing school forever and for the fact that we will probably get our calls next week (I️ am predicting July 5th and 6th), it's surreal. :') I️ am very nervous, though! Especially because I️ will still be working throughout nursing school. Are you guys going to work?

Oh, I'll be working for sure. It's my 2nd degree, so I'm not really getting much FinAid. I'm working as a scribe now, so I'll likely keep that throughout school. Anyone else scribing?
