UNLV SON Fall 2014

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hello! Just wanted to make a thread for those applying for UNLV's nursing program this fall. I am finally finished with all my pre-reqs and am applying for the first time, so I am really excited! Has anyone scheduled their signing session yet?

Congrats guys!!!!!

I just received my call at around 12 PM today! I'm excited! See you all on August 1st! :D

I really admire that you kept applying tano.c, you didn't give up and you deserve this :)

So anything below the cutoff is automatically dismissed? It's frustrating since I'm at a 89.1

yeah pretty much...its extremely frustrating, trust me I know how you feel! But retaking classes or hesi can always boost your points.

Not exactly. There are people who have received the call but turned down their spot for various reasons. Since your points are closer to the cutoff you might have a chance of receiving a call. I've read on the SON Summer 2014 that a person got a call a few weeks after the supposed last day of calls going out and their points were closer to 90.41 (the cutoff for that semester). So yeah, I wouldn't lose hope just yet! It really is frustrating and a confidence-killer having missed the cutoff by less than a half of a point :\ but your score is VERY CLOSE so anything can happen!

Thanks Tigerarmy! After my first rejection letter from Spring '14 and second from Summer '14, my confidence was at it's lowest to the point where I was really considering switching my major or move to CSN for their nursing program. Instead, I retook Bio 224, 189, and Chem 108 as a last resort. Luckily I achieved A's in those classes and my score improved A LOT. It was the best feeling in the world!

Sorry for the late reply, but I had 94.9 points. And my contract signing is July 31st at 1pm. Congrats on everybody else who got calls! :)

Oh, and in case anyone was confused I previously posted that I had 92 something points but retook my HESI and it helped me a lot! Just to clarify lol

You still would have been accepted even if you didn't retake your hesi! Good job :)

Hey guys, name is David. Just Want To Congratulate Everyone who Got Accepted For fall2014. I myself got accepted, so I plan on seeing you guys late this month for orientation :nurse:

If you guys didn't make it this semester, best of luck next semester!!!! P.s. if this career is indeed your passion, don't just cross your fingers and hope for the best. Retake some of those bio classes, or hesi. Put in the hard work and it will pay off:)

Hello Everyone,

I know I'm a little late, but I also got in. I'm excited to see you on Sept. 4th :)

P.S. I found that PCL labs are the cheapest for TB test. Quest wanted almost $150. My insurance covered 100% of it @ PCL lab.
