unlicensed documenting on prescriptions

Hello everybody. I work in the medical field with a lot of prescriptions. New Medicare regulations demand that prescriptions have the physician's or CRNP's NPI# and their full name. Obviously, there are all types and formats of Rx's out there and 30% have no NPI. Is it legal for other medical personnel, and which ones, to add this "basic" information?? Some doctor's claim that they have no time to be chased down for a basic NPI scribble addition. PLEASE HELP!!!

That would be wonderful but as ive said before, our office doesnt issue the rx's, the patients come in with them. But its not a bad idea in the case ill be asking for an NPI thru fax request

Our Rx's are all electronic---all the info is there everytime

Thats great. All practices are different though, from hositals to small practices. Plus not everyone has gone all electronic, some even avoid it!

I work front desk at urgent care clinic and we have all the physicians NPI #'s in a book that we keep up front. The doctors will write the NPI number on the script if they have time or remember. If not we can write it or if the pharmacist calls we just give it to them. Most of our scripts go electronically to the pharmacy that has the NPI number, but sometimes the patient will request a paper script.

Does anybody experience issues with such minor medicare obligations? Sometimes i think my manager makes them up. One day its more signatures next to dates, next its NPI#s

This is random but does anyone know if a medical clinic for example: pain management & physical therapy HAVE to put up price list for ppl to see how much they charge each service?

Is this regarding what you charge medical insurances or private pay by customers?

In a sense both? I'm not sure how to say it. But what if its pri ate pay? Because the price really depends on lets say how long and what procedures are done. Because someone just came in and says he's from the dept of whatever and said I want to see your price list for your services. Then he goes out to stores next door and asks too

Well if he/she is paying out of pocket, its up to you how far youll go- if you are desperate for business, you will spend couple hours in making a list. If you arent interested in competing, you can say that you can give a price for a couple services only. But if you arent interested in people who go from placw to place and just waste your time, say that you only accept insurances. But its none of their business how much you charge the insurances. Thats private information of company!! You can bill and they can see on their personal summary of benefits. Nothing else is their business.

Thanks a lot. That's what I thought too. So dumb he probably thought we were a store too lol
