University of Washington's BSN program 2014

U.S.A. Washington

Good morning!

So I'm going to try this whole process over again, as a repeat offender...I mean applicant for UW's BSN program 2014. I applied last year, made it through the proctored essay portion but was not accepted. After nursing (haha) my wounds w/ large amounts of ice cream, chocolate & such, I've recently found my mojo to try again. Anyone else re-applying or 1st time applying for 2014? I know it's extremely early in the game, but those deadlines come up faster than you think! I've saved all the tips applicants that have applied more than once and hope that 2nd time is the charm.

Anyone else out there getting ready for it? We got this :D

Lots of positive thoughts & keeping my fingers crossed for you!!

Thank You too!

For those that were wait listed or accepted. The blue sheet that talks about summer courses, at the bottom it states. "Courses in summer are as non-matriculated students and financial aid is not usually available for summer quarter students, Matriculation to the nursing program starts Fall 2014".

Does this mean as long as I'm a UW student I can take summer courses?

Never mind, got my answer.

So received an email from SON, so far the waitlist hasn't been moved, but if you're waiting like me, you'll be happy to hear that they'll email out when you move up on the list. Anyone else waiting and trying to hold out hope?

I am. My husband convinced me to wait it out and see what happens.

I figured you would, why take all the time and effort and throw it away. Are you applying anywhere else?

I applied to PLU as well

Awesome! I'm taking forever to finish my application to PLU bc I really want to go to UW but I need to apply & remember that the end result is what counts & regardless of the journey, I will make the best of it, no matter what :)

I'm a little hesitant to apply to PLU because of how long their program is. I almost think I'd be better off financially to go the community college route with a bridge to a BSN. What do you all think?

What I don't understand is the "sophomore year" covers most of the usual nursing school pre-reqs like stats, nutrition, microbiology, etc. why is the program so long?

From what I understand about PLU, it's because all the clinicals are at the tail end, that extra third year. So it's longer, but maybe not so hectic? Idk... I think Id rather do the clinicals alongside the lecture classes that accompany them. i think it makes more sense!
