University of Washington GEPN Applicants for 2010 Entry

Published

Did anyone apply to the graduate entry program in nursing (GEPN) at the University of Washington? (http://www.son.washington.edu/admissions/gepn/)

This program is ranked number one by US News and, by all accounts, one of the best in the country.

I got an e-mail from them on Monday:

Admission letters

We plan to have letters of admission, waitlist, and denial for the GEPN program sent out by the end of this week. Please keep an eye on your mailboxes, and let us know if you do not receive your letter by the end of December

It sounds like we should hear something by next week. Did anyone else apply? Maybe this can be the official notification thread.

Hello, All-

I live in Northern California and just got my letter (Monday). I am on the wait-list for the ABSN program, and definitely hoping to get in! Should I start a new thread for ABSN applicants? Would love to hear about all your acceptance letters!

Hey Everyone,

I got on the wait list too. Im actually pretty bummed. Did anyone else get wait-listed for the DNP family option? I wondering how many people they wait-list. Anyone know?

monday 12/21

got a letter of acceptance into the gepn anp program got a denial letter from ucsf today too, now that you mention it. well someone mentioned it! i was going to switch to fnp for next few applications, so i am not sure i am going to accept.

Dear NP to Be,

My letter had my wait-list # on it (I'm for ABSN). Did yours?

I called today and they say that most people who do move off the wait-list will likely do so in the next 3-4 weeks. Although they can't make guarantees, there is usually some movement on the wait-list (and hope for us!).

Dear ro.t.,

Congratulations!!! Would you be willing to share your stats (GPA, hands-on health care experience, who wrote your letters, etc.)? Just wondering who is making the cut at UW and not UCSF (i.e., how/what the individual schools choose to focus on).

Thanks!

Got waitlisted for DNP FNP. Bummer! I knew when I saw the small envelope...

Hi ShelbyP

I would say that I am solid on letters, have 2 years' hands on but non-nursing healthcare experience, have above average analytics (GRE/GPA) but below average nursing familiarity/volunteer history (like zero). To oversimplify, this might suggest that UW prioritizes the analytics and UCSF emphasizes a history of intention. I am a little concerned about the no interviews development at UW, and the suspension of the GEPN option.?

My letter still hasn't arrived and I only live in Tacoma, this is torture. Has anyone else applied to the Psych program?

Waitlisted UW GEPN MN Community Health

I've been traveling but my roommate says I haven't gotten a letter yet! Could be because I live in the middle of nowhere, but I'm still nervous.

I'm also glad I applied other places, since UW raised their tuition and all that. Rot - what did you mean by they're suspending the GEPN program? It seems like they are putting fewer resources into it, but are they suspending it completely? I assume that would be for 2011 since they already let us apply for 2010...

Good luck to all!

Rejected. Not even on the waitlist. I thought I had a strong application but I guess not...

Waitlisted...yargh.

Does anyone know when accepted people have to commit to the program? I'm wondering when we might find out about the waitlist, like is it worth it to wait or will I be in another program by then....

Thanks!
