University of Washington ABSN Program

Published

Hello,

I am looking into a number of different nursing programs but the ABSN at UW looks like a great program since I already have a BA and a number of years of healthcare work.

Does anyone know if this program follows the overall school schedule in terms of academic breaks? I noticed that UW has an Autumn break this year from Aug 24-Sept 25. This seems like a long time off for an accelerated program and wondering if this still holds true for this program?

Lastly, I do live over an hour away from Seattle so wondering if this program has weekend clinicals? If so, what quarter would those typically fall into?

Thanks for the help.

I have a BA too and am interested in the ABSN program as well. Looking forward to someone's response! :D

You go from Summer to Summer. So this years 2014 cohort started this summer and will end this time next year.

Hello fellow applicants! I am applying to the program for the first time and have a few questions about the prerequisite course checklist. Anyone else applying who didn't go to UW for undergrad? I have all the prereqs complete but they are listed under different course titles and I can't seem to get any answers when I call the school of nursing office. Any suggestions from previous applicants would be much appreciated! Also..can anyone tell me exactly what is to be included in the hard copy of the application versus the electronic copy. I see the checklist on the website but it doesn't really specify which are supplemental materials.

Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Competition is tough, good luck everyone.

To answer the original question, you have a 1-month break between summer and fall quarters - that is your longest one. Over Christmas you get I think 3 weeks (2nd break), and then your last 2 breaks are only 1 week long - between Winter/Spring and Spring/Summer. That said, the last week is Finals Week and you may have finals bunched near the beginning of the week which give you closer to 2 weeks break.
