University of Tennessee Nursing Residency

Nurses Career Support

Published

Is there anyone else applying/applied for University of Tennessee Nursing residency (Winter 2016) that maybe be possibly moving to the area?

Me! I had my interview last week.

Specializes in ED.

Can I ask what the starting pay is? I graduate in May and hope to work there. Did you get hired onto a specific unit?

Starting pay is around 18.50 I believe. But factor in shift differentials and the fact there is no income tax in Tennessee.. it's pretty fair just starting out !

The process is you apply, have a phone interview with a nurse recruiter and they tell you to choose the three areas you're interested in from a list of units they have at UTMC. I picked three and then three alternates. From there, they forward your application to the nurse managers and they will call you if they're interested. I'm from Indiana, so one of mine was a phone interview because they only offered interviews one specific day, and the other I drove down there for. I met the manager, shadowed a nurse on the unit for about 45 minutes and then had a peer interview with two nurses. The manager told me he'd talk to HR and get the ball rolling so hopefully I will hear this week!

Thanks for the reply! Good luck!

So glad to hear!! Have you heard back?

Yep! I have a staff nurse position on a trauma/surgical step down unit. I start orientation the 6th!

Congratulations!!! I've accepted an offer in the CVICU. So excited to be moving to the area. Have you found an apartment/house? Have you already moved to the area?

Ahh congratulations to you as well!!! So exciting. I just went down last week and found an apartment on the west side. And I'll be moving down there in a week and a half or so!

OMG! Same! Have you taken your NCLEX yet?

Omg! No way! Lol. And I have not, I'm scheduled to take it before I move though! Have you?

Yes girl! I'll be moving the 30th of this month off of Cedar Bluff Road. I take my test next week (prayers up).
