Hi all! I applied for the USA FNP program for fall 2023! I submitted my application in March and the follow-up email from 'congrad' said I'd hear back at least two weeks after 4/1. I was wondering if there's anyone else out there who applied so we can all wait together?! Or if anyone already went through the application process for previous semesters and was admitted.... How long after did you find out? I keep refreshing my email even though the deadline isn't until Saturday and it's killing me!
Congrats! Still waiting for my email, I applied 3/3/23- I was told it would arrive shortly after the 4/1 deadline.... But seeing all you who applied before the 3/1 deadline and are just now finding out doesn't give me much hope that ill find out any time soon ? if you create the group though post the link so I can join if I do get accepted! congrats again everyone!
Labordelivernurse1 said:Ah I hope we don't have to wait because they just extended the deadline until 6/1. When I called to confirm that my deadline of 4/1 was still legit they said yes, but the other person in this group said her deadline was 3/1 and she still hasn't heard.... So now I don't have high hopes. I got into Carson Newman & university of Cincinnati and I'm highly considering Cincinnati now even though it's expensive, but has very high academic and student ratings. Thank you for telling me your opinion and experience of USA!
I also applied to UC but haven't heard yet. You said it costs more than USA? Which one are you leaning towards? I have a friend who went there and recommended it to me.
I applied maybe a month ago to UC and have until Friday to decide before my spot is given away. It looks like they only do in state or out of state tuition, no web tuition there. It costs $907 a credit hour and the whole program comes to about $47,000. USA costs around $27,000. So I was hoping to hear back from USA before Friday but it doesn't look like that'll happen..... may just pay the $300 matriculation fee to hold my spot.
I was leaning towards USA for financial reasons. But academically it appears that UC is higher rated. I don't know anyone who went to UC, I just found it from researching all the online programs. but I do have a friend who graduated from USA 6 years ago and is a well established NP.

Oh gotcha. Yes cost is definitely important. The nurse I know that went through UC just passed her boards and went there because some of her coworkers went there and had good experiences too. So apart from the cost it does sound like a great program. My third reference just finally submitted on Friday so who knows when I'll find out!
I think by the time my references were submitted and my account was verified it was about 1.5 weeks? Maybe even a little less than that! Not long at all. I don't know which one to pick at this point. Carson Newman finds your preceptors for you if you can't, which is honestly a plus for me... but USA and UC are better known. All the passing rates seems to be about 96% or higher. USA was my first choice but if I'm not going to find out for like 4 more weeks that'll make me give up my other spots ?

Not that you're asking me, but if I were you I'd pay the $300 fee. I feel your frustration. What's another $300 in the pot of our upcoming NP school debt anyway ? That way you can still choose from all the schools. And yeah finding clinical placement worries me, that would be a pretty big plus if they guarantee to find you a placement. That's huge! Good luck with finding out! If you got into UC I bet you'll get into USA too!
Labordelivernurse1 said:I was actually thinking the same thing. What's $300 in the big picture of spending thousands? Are you leaning more towards USA or going to wait for UC to make your decision? Also are you applying for the FNP path or another speciality?
Yeah $300 what the hell ?♀️ That's worth it for the ability to choose. Now that I'm aware of the price difference and how a couple people here have said they know nurses who went through the program and liked it, I'm definitely leaning towards USA. I'll be in the FNP track!
