Anyone out there apply for the dual FNP/ACNP Fall 2018 semester?

After the recent changes made at my current school, I have decided to transfer. I don't like the direction my school is headed and they've made some changes that have drastically changed the program.

Even though I can only transfer 9 credits and it's going to set me back on graduation time, I have decided to transfer to USA. I really wanted dual certification so I can work in the ER when I'm done with school. This program will give me over 1,000 clinical hours and I feel comfortable that I'll be properly educated/trained by the time I graduate.

I'm applying for the MSN program, but is anyone doing either the MSN or DNP dual program? We're all on the same trajectory for our courses, except the DNPs go on to finish the extra courses after we're done with the MSN portion.

I would love to connect with some fellow future students. :) We had a great FB group for my former school, so I'd love to start a FB group for those of us beginning in the Fall once we know we're in.

Yes! I received mine and I also did the formal acceptance using the link provided in the letter.

I also got admitted to the MSN program this fall. Can someone pls PM me the link to the USA Facebook group for fall 2018? Thanks.

Almost to the end of our first semester. Fairly straight forward work. If you complete the study guide for your Patho exams, then you'll do well. The papers for EBP/Research weren't too difficult. I work full-time in ICU (three 12 hour shifts per week) and the coursework is very manageable, so far. I'm not sure what it will be like when we start clinicals, but so far, so good. Much better than my previous school that crammed everything into an 8-week session. Having a 16-week semester gives you time to really study & absorb the material. The Patho exams were definitely challenging, but as I said before, if you do the prep work ahead of time, you should get good grades.

My only frustration is that you don't get the opportunity to review the questions you got wrong on the exams. To me, that is an excellent way to learn. They will tell you which "concept" you missed, but not the actual question. I've made A's & B's all the way through so far, sitting on an A average with one last exam & one last paper left to go :)

Hey! I'm thinking about applying to the BSN to DNP FNP program at USA. I know this thread is old and most of you were applying to a dual program but i would still love to hear your thoughts on USA and if it is worth it. I'm thinking about doing the part time program- 12 semesters long. Do you guys think I would be able to work full time as an RN during this? and the program is mainly online right?? Thanks in advance!!!

I work full-time (three 12 hour night shifts per week in the ICU) and I'm in the full-time program. It's definitely do-able since you only take 2 courses per semester. The part-time program will take you much longer, but you'll only take one course at a time. It's up to you to determine what you can/can't handle as far as work/life balance. I haven't found it to be too difficult. However, my kids are grown and out of the house now, so that makes a big difference ?
