I'm starting USA Accelerated Nursing in July as well. Few things I'm wanting to know: I have not attended an orientation yet...has anyone else? What about class schedule/books/ID/scholarships/financial aid, etc.?
I'm a little worried because everything is so cryptic. It seems like I don't have all the information that I should. Also, I need to get the student health insurance offered by the college. I"ve looked online, emailed the Student Health Center, and called the insurance company. We can't sign up yet, but in our packet it says that we have to sign up by June 26th (this Friday). Anybody else experiencing the same thing? I'm beginning to think that I'm the only one out of the loop here.
jennp,
you should have received a packet with forms and drug test to complete by 26 Jun--if you didnt I would call asap............also in the packet is the date of orientation--July 20th at 1200.............i think you have missed the deadline for student health insurance thru south............i have BCBS independent for 106 a month--slightly more expensive than south--college of nursing will register you for your classes and i hear from my friend who is in the program to just go to orientation and many of the questions will be answered their such as books.............as for financial aid you are on your own............fafsa, private.........unsure about scholarships............many of these questions are answered in the packet you should have received and we should be getting another one anyday regarding everything else.............hoped this helped some.................
Yes, I did get the packet with the drug test/background check/forms, etc. I've got all the paperwork in order. Okay, I saw July 20th for the date, but I thought that was just for nursing. I didn't know if I had to attend some massive school orientation or not. Okay, I will check into other insurances today. So we don't have to have books for the first day of class, July 20th? Thanks, you did help...I've been checking the mail everyday, hoping to have another packet of information. Where are you from?
hi,am stephanie i got accepted into the Accelerated BSN program university of South alabama spring 2010 for fairhope campus....am really nervous..does any1 know how many students usually make it thru this program??
Also, how different is fairhope campus from springhill??? Any insight will help
Thanks!!!
Hey Stephanie,
I've heard that the Fairhope campus is nice as well and from my understanding that particular campus has just renovated its nursing complex. But, I do know that the curriculum is the same for both campuses and is carried on at the same pace as the one on the university campus. I even believe that some of the nursing instructors are split between the two campuses. Fairhope is a nice, small town, I think you would enjoy it. When did you get your acceptance letter?
Hey!
Congrats on your acceptance(s)!! I'm considering the accelerated program and was wondering if you felt it was very difficult to get into? I have a B.S. in Microbiology with an overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.36 on the pre-reqs. I've taken several non-required courses like Genetics, Virology, BioChem I & II, Org Chem I & II. Are you commited to the MSN track?
Thanks!
Your packet will explain a bunch. Classes start at 9 on the 20th...we won't have class on Friday. Then for the next 4 weeks, we will be off on Tuesdays. The packet lists the books we will be using (only 3!)...It looks like we'll find everything out when we get there that first day...Where are you from?

Hey everybody,
I am new to the forum and I just had a question about the University of South Alabama's accelerated nursing program. I am starting the accelerated program this July 2009 and I was wondering if there was anyone out there who has completed USA's accelerated program, and, if so, what was it like and what should I prepare myself for? I will be attending the Springhill campus and I already have my B.S. in Biology. I would also like to know if there is anyone out ther planning to start the accelerated program @ USA this July as well?
