University of San Francisco - Orange County Campus (USF) ME-MSN Spring 2022

Published

Hi guys! I wanted to create a forum for USF’s (Orange County) ME-MSN Spring 2022 cohort because I couldn’t find one.

To start I am a little confused about the ME-MSN program and what the outcomes are and it’s been hard to get in touch with someone at the school. On my application when you pick your program it says MSN-CNL...but I’m pretty sure this program doesn’t end in a CNL licensure? Does anyone have anymore information on this/can clarify this? Thanks everyone ?

Hi all!

Still waiting to hear back.. I got waitlisted for the Spring 2021 cohort.  Anyone also still waiting to hear back?

Hey everyone !

This is my first post here, I just had some quick questions that I hope you guys can help me answer. It's somewhat difficult to get in contact with USF and their website is very vague.

After completion of the MSN program, will we receive our BSN along with MSN?

Also, my goal is to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, and this program will provide me with a MSN as a Clinical Nurse Leader, but will I still have the opportunity to apply for another MSN as a FNP? Whether it is at USF or another program.

Thanks in advance !

Hi! The ME-MSN program will grant an MSN degree, plus Clinical Nurse Leader and Public Health Nurse certification. It will not grant a BSN, just the MSN (unlike SFSU).

As for becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, you have a few pathways. As of now, you could get an MSN then do a post master's certificate for FNP (you do not get another MSN degree). However, many programs are moving towards a DNP degree to become an FNP. This means that you may have to get your DNP to become an FNP, after you get your MSN.

Another path is to do an entry-level DNP-FNP program (like SeattleU), where you would get RN licensure and DNP degree in your chosen specialty, such as FNP.

Hopefully my answer helped! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi everyone!

I was accepted and have committed to OC Cohort 13.

For those who are committing to USF as well, is there a facebook group that has been created yet? If not, I could make one for us to join!

I'm excited to meet all of y'all! Best of luck to everyone on the waitlist as well!

Congrats! ???

After paying the deposit, do they help guide you how to get financial aid? For the tuition and all other costs… Im on the waitlist and I was just wondering (if ever accepted), I would need to move out and get an apartment close to school but I would need to take out loans. Do they provide that right away?

Thank you!!

For me, they only told me my financial aid (in loans) package after I paid the deposit unfortunately. However, the cost of the program is consistent with that on the website. In terms of guidance for getting financial aid, they do provide instructions on accepting their loan offer. As for external scholarships/etc, they don't help ?

If anyone here will be attending cohort OC 13, I just made a facebook group. Please feel free to join!

Hi guys! I wanted to join this thread as I was accepted at the OC campus.

Hi guys!

I applied here in an earlier year and was waitlisted. I am reapplying again for Fall 2022 and was wondering if any admitted students could share with me who they got their recommendations from? Or if they had some time to give me some advice--I have a few to choose from and I'm not sure what to do! Thanks ?

Hi guys, I'm going to be applying for another semester and this is totally random but upon acceptance is when you go to get BLS certified right?

The program itself is 2 years but BLS only lasts 2 years from when you get certified (which would be before classes start) so I assume towards the end of our second year of classes we'll need to scramble to renew since we'll still be in school?

Im definitely thinking about this critically lmao. Anyone with knowledge about this.

Hello! I am a part of the cohort that applied for Spring 2022 (OC13)! I got my letter of recommendations from my supervisor from a PT clinic I used to work at and my manager on my unit where I worked as a CNA.

Hello! I got into the Spring 2022 cohort and I had my BLS done before acceptance into the program. I believe it helps your application to already have it on your resume. I would need to get mine renewed while in school. Which is fine, it won't be too much of a hassle.
