University of San Francisco ME-CNL Summer 2012

I applied for the Clinical nurse leader (non-nurse) program for summer 2012. Did anyone else apply? The wait is killing me.

Hi there,

I'm currently in my first semester at USF so hopefully I can provide a little insight into this. As for acceptances, everyone in my class received formal letters in the mail. It was almost exactly 6 weeks so I guess you'll be hearing from the school very soon. I heard from one of my professors that the dean is pushing them to get the letters out. So good luck to all and feel free to ask me any questions. =)

do u know if they're still doing phone calls? from previous years i think phone calls started going out around this time.

I only know of one classmate that received a phone call and that's because she kept calling the school to ask about her admission status so the recruiter knew she was anxious. Other then that, the rest of us received a nice big package in the mail. They might have switched it up, I'm not too sure.

I applied for the program as well. I called admissions today and they said letters should be going out at the end of this month. So hopefully by next week we should all know. This wait has been killing me!

I finally got the acceptance call this evening from USF.The lady that called said that acceptance letters will be mailed out next week. I'm glad the calls are finally going out after the long wait. I have decided to go with the Samuel merritt offer so I will be declining USF's admission.

congrats springs!!! do u happen to know if she just started making calls or if its nearing the end of the list?

i'm waiting for USF as well before i send in my letter of intent for Samuel Merritt !!

I got my acceptance call as well! I got the call around 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

Congrats! I also received my call yesterday around 3 pm... I know some of you are going to SMU so good luck... I apply only to the USF program so I am for sure accepting and saving my spot as soon as I get my package. I am so happy! Of course also worried about loans and the current job nursing situation in CA.... but trilled to star this new journey!

If some of you are looking for a great place to volunteer that will look good in your resume let me know... I applied two years ago to USF and was rejected... I waited for two years work a little, got more involve in the community and applied last minute this year and got in... so let me know if somebody wants some help or tips...

Just to let ppl know, I got a call on Thurs the 29th that I was accepted. Not sure if I will be able to go b/c it's so expensive. This was my #1 pick school I wanted to go to but also not sure if the workload will be too much. I have never taken full time classes and recieved a B or higher in them. Does anybody know how the workload is? Is it like studaying 24/7 for a B average student?

hi. i got accepted to start this summer and i was wondering if you could tell me how the workload is. when are classes and clinicals? and how often do you find yourself studying? and what kind of student are you? i'm trying to find out if i can make it through this program before i take out a lot of loans and then fail out and still have to pay back the loans but this is the only nursing program i was accepted into. i applied to rn schools, bsn schools, and absn's and got rejected from all of them except this one. so this is kinda like my last hope but at the same time don't want to be in debt if i can't make it through.

That's a great question. I would consider myself an A/B student and so far I feel like I have a lot of time to kill during the semester. For my cohort we only have classes three days a week and half of my classmates are still working part-time on their days off and weekends. There is a considerable amount of studying required for the program but nothing too extensive so far. I personally feel like this program is a lot easier than my undergrad at UC Davis. Class sizes are smaller and you're not competing with your classmates. Everyone wants to see you succeed and there's plenty of help out there. The professors make themselves more than available, your classmates I'm sure will be very helpful, and there are tutors available as well. However, there will be one big difference between my cohort and yours and that has to do with the length of the first semester. Summer semester is about four, five weeks shorter than spring, thus you'll have less time to fool around. I would recommend that you carefully think it over because it does involve a huge chunk of money. Another thing to consider is that because you're learning about a topic (i.e. nursing) you're interested it, you tend to do better in it. Don't hesitate to message me or ask more questions if you have any.
