Members are discussing the high cost of the ME-MSN program at USF's SF campus, questioning the transparency of the program's pricing and considering other more affordable options due to the high cost of living in San Francisco. Some members are also expressing concerns about the program's quality, citing issues with clinicals, instructors, and NCLEX pass rates, leading to discussions about the value of the degree and potential alternatives like ABSN or second bachelor programs.
There isn't a recent forum so I wanted to create one!

Yeah, I got a scholarship but it was pretty small — just $5k. I followed up with admissions to get the full breakdown, and they told me the total program cost, when you factor in everything — tuition, student fees, supplies, books, uniforms, background checks, insurance, and living in SF — comes out to almost $150k. A lot of that isn't clearly listed online, so it was definitely surprising.
I also talked to a couple recent grads from the Spring 2023 cohort who literally just finished this week. Both of them said if they could do it again, they wouldn't. They felt unprepared going into NCLEX, said the clinicals weren't consistent, and that the whole thing didn't live up to what was marketed.
With how unpredictable loans are right now and interest rates creeping up, taking on that kind of debt for an entry-level MSN is a lot. I'm honestly thinking about taking the year to strengthen my app and reapplying to more affordable programs like CCSF's ADN or SFSU's ABSN or MSN. Just sharing in case anyone else is still on the fence. This sucks LOL.

SFSU's financial aid sucks and that loan cannot even cover tuition for ABSN. CCSF is the key, especially if you live in the city.
