University of San Diego Advice

Hello everyone,

I am currently applying to 3 FNP masters programs and one of them is USD. I live on the east coast and am really looking forward to moving to the west.

I was wondering if there was any USD alumni or current students who can just tell me about there experience in the program.

1) Did/do you find the program good overall?

2) Does the school help you find clinical placements or are you left to find it on your own?

Any other information about the classes and your general experience would be great! Thank you in advance for the help.

Hi there,

I've applied to USD, too! I live in San Diego, so I do know a lot about its reputation. The USD Hahn School of Nursing is a highly revered and most prestigious school in this town. I have several friends that have graduated from the NP program. When I asked them about their experiences, no one had a negative thing to say. I went to the open house and they do indeed find clinical placements for the students. Hope this helps. Maybe we will be classmates! Best wishes to you. :)

How are your experiences so far with the application process? There is almost nothing on grad cafe about when people are hearing back, any insight?

I was invited for an interview and was told we would find out by Mid-April. So anxious to hear back from them!

Me too! I am very impatient and it is killing me! When I interviewed they said mid to late april which means nothing. Fingers crossed for us both.

Crossing fingers too! :) When was your interview? I wonder if they are done interviewing applicants now. I was hoping I'd hear from them by end of next week. Do you know of anyone that graduated from USD's program in the past?

I got my letter of acceptance on Friday. I able to log into my my.sandiego portal and see my acceptance before the snail mail arrived however, I still didn't believe it until i saw the paper. Best of luck to you!!!

For posterity, application deadline feb 28th, interviewed march 28th, accepted april 10th.

Congrats!! I got my letter on Sat and I was accepted!! :) So excited to start this program.. did you apply to any other schools or have you decided this is the school you want to attend?

This was the only school I applied to. I didn't go the info night that was held in feb because I had decided I wasn't going to apply. My boyfriend said, just apply, and go from there, so it was sort of a whim. I am defiantly going in the fall however. Did you apply anywhere else?

I applied to Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. But their app deadline isn't until June 6th. However, I've decided I'm going to accept at USD for fall so I guess we will be classmates!
