University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

U.S.A. New York

Published

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

I was interviewed on Tuesday for the January 2013 cohort. My interviewer told me that they had so many interviews to do (plus they are very thorough about going over your file) that they would likely not mail decisions out until the first week of October. She said some might be earlier, but not to expect a decision until then.

Hi Emilykb,

My interview will be August 2nd for January 2013 cohort. I am so nervous:scrying:. What kind of questions did the interviewer ask? And did you do your interview via phone or in person. Good luck to you girl:up:. Please stay in-touch.

Hi Everyone,

Did anyone else get interviewed or will be interviewed for spring 2013 cohort? Hope to hear from you.

Emilykb,

My interview was also on Tuesday and I'm sure I was after you (had 4:00 slot, which was the last one). Honestly it was NOTHING like I expected. I don't even think it was even a interview as it was more of a casual conversation. Kind of disappointed b/c I did a huge preparation on it believing that it would have been intense, especially since I thought they would be asking those behavioral questions, but on the other hand I was relieved as it was really relaxing. All I was asked was my background, why I did my major, opinions on certain issues and then I asked some questions about the school and it lead to some very interesting conversations where she talked about her family life and such. It was really relaxed and did really ease tensions I had while on the phone. So I guess for those who have theirs coming up soon, just be relaxed, be honest with yourself and go with the flow.

Hi Demeanor89,

Did you do your interview via phone or in person?. I live in Queens and I am looking forward to going up to Rochester. I cannot wait to see the campus. My interview will be Via phone. I hope my interview will carry as much weight as the other applicants that will be interviewed in person. What do you think? Thanks for the advice. I will try to relax:bow:.

Hi Hippocraticrush,

I think UR will be sending out their decision starting August ending or September. Take a look at the online application. I will keep my fingers cross for everyone as well as I will send up a prayer. Peace!!

Hi Everyone!!

Very soon the mailbox will become our best friend. Everyone!! after you have had your interviews, please do not for get to leave your mailbox open. I will be checking mine everyday:banghead:.

Hi guys! I interviewed July 6th. Like many of you have been saying, my interview was very relaxed, but my interviewer still asked typical interview questions like 'What are your strengths and weaknesses academically?' and she also stressed the fact that it is very difficult to work in the program (even part time) because I had told her my plan to continue working (less hours of course). I was told I won't hear anything until September=/. I did get a tour of the building which I am assuming is standard, but a plus is I did get called for my interview before they had even received my transcript with my pre-requisite grades, just my undergraduate transcripts with GPA. Does anyone know how many students they are accepting this cohort? I know in the past it has been about 57-60.

Debbie,

I'm sure you'll be fine. Like I said before, it was just like a conversation and just be yourself. Don't worry about them throwing very hard to answer questions, they just want to see if you understand the profession and the challenges that come with it. The questions may also differ for each person because everyone with different backgrounds are applying. I was never asked about my strengths and weaknesses. Also, I find it helpful to ask the interviewer questions regarding the school and even the city, if you have never been there. Def will help! :). It's quite short too, only 25-30 minutes. I'm quite anxious though, I feel confident but then again I feel having a good feeling is going to get me jinxed for some reason. Has happened in the past.

Thanks Demeanor89, I know they will not ask any question that I have not heard before. Nonetheless, this is one of the biggest moment of my life. I really just want this so badly. I suppose I will just have to put my best forward and then hope and wait like everyone else. Talk to you soon.
