University of Rochester ABPNN FALL 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone!

So I just wanted to start a fresh new thread for applicants that are interested in the 2017 Fall Cohort at the University of Rochester's ABPNN Program. It seems that a lot of people who commented in previous threads pertaining to this cohort got lost in the threads and never really had their questions/comments/concerns addressed. So I just felt it was best to start a new one!

I applied to the program back in February, but have not yet heard anything. I know that they are wrapping up the acceptances for the May 2017 cohort, but has anyone who applied for Fall 2017 heard anything?

Hi everyone,

I applied to the January 2018 start date (didn't see a thread or page for Rochester's accelerated nursing 2018) and just had my interview with Marina this afternoon (super informal and I think it went well). I was wondering if anyone knew when I could expect to hear back from the program. I was also wondering if anyone could give some insight on the program thus far.

Thanks

Bharti

Hello Bharti!

Good luck to you! In regards to the program itself, we in this thread have not started, our classes start in September. As for hearing back, most of us had interviews in March and April and heard back the second week of June, so expect to hear back in 2-2.5 months. This program doesn't do much with emailing, it's mostly calls and letters. For example, they call us to let us know we get in and then send us a comprehensive packet in the mail. Our deposit is being paid via check sent in the mail, not though an online portal. The only thing I can say about it now is that you have to get everything ready in about a one-two month period if you do plan to attend: housing, loans, fafsa, physicals, etc. Because you are considered a graduate student, housing and whatnot is not guaranteed through the school. The duration of the program also mean you have to pay more upfront. It's an expensive program but probably less competitive than the SUNYs. I however think it's worth it due to the reputation, medical school, and affiliated hospitals.

Has anybody received student ID and financial aid info yet?

Hello prospective nurses! New to the forum; I'm a Canadian citizen who also applied to the ABPNN program for Jan 2018 start date. I wish luck to all of those students starting their nursing journey in Sept. Also wish luck to those who are just starting the interview process. I haven't had a call yet...eeekkk!

Let's all continue to be in touch :)

Hi bri18! I just had an invite for an interview. I'm wondering if you, or anyone else involved in this thread can tell me how the interview went and how you prepared? What kind of questions do they ask? I have my interview on Aug. 3/17. Any guidance would be awesome!! Thanks :)

Hi @Bhartijx4, Do you remember the interview, and types of questions? I have mine tomorrow. Any support on how to prepare would be great! Thanks

Hi Annie84! Thanks for reaching out. I had my interview June 29th and it was super informal and was only asked why I was choosing UR and what made me choose nursing. The conversation lasted about 20 minutes due to the reason that I talked a lot. She seemed pleased with my responses and I felt overall really good about the interview. I was told we wouldn't hear back for a while and when we did, it would be over the phone. I would just say to relax as it is more of a way for them to get to know you and the qualities you possess. Hope this was helpful!

Hi Bhartijx4! Thank you so much for your response! This does help. I just get so nervous for interviews. I'll do my very best to keep calm and remember to take pauses and breathe :)

Let's keep in touch- best of luck and thanks again

Hi Annie84!

Yes, breathe, pause & relax..you'll do great!

Feel free to send me an email if you want to (dont want to give my full name on public forum) at [email protected] with your Facebook name so we can stay in touch :)

I applied for class of Jan. 2019. I just spoke with Nancy and she said letter and phone calls will be sent out at the end of this September. My interview was at the beginning of July. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks @bhartijx4! I apologize for only seeing this response now. I've just sent you an email :)

Good luck @ cjaredm!
