University of Michigan 2016 Accelerated Second Degree BSN

Published

Just wondering if anyone else out there using this site is applying to the U of M Accelerated BSN program starting in September 2016. If so, I thought we could keep each other updated on what we hear from admissions, provide moral support, compare stats to satisfy our own curiosity, etc. Hope to hear from some of you soon :)

I just want to know! Ugh why are they taking so long???

Hey everyone! Glad to know I'm not the only anxiously awaiting admissions decisions. I spoke with someone from the school of nursing this morning and was told they are hoping to have decisions released for everyone this week or next week, I'm gonna assume next week (FYI this is not the first time I've been told this). So here's to another week of waiting! Hopefully we hear something soon!!

You guys...

I think I'm going to die from the anxiety of waiting before they actually send out admissions decisions :p

On the plus side, I've been extremely productive in an attempt to not just stare at my Gmail all day. My apartment has never been cleaner.

Did anyone else get an email late last night from U-M (subject: University of Michigan Application Received)? It looks like they entered some application data into Wolverine Access so you can check your application status on there.

I feel like this must mean we're about to find out!

I also received that email this morning. It doesn't appear to have any direct information about the status of our acceptance/rejection :(

I got that same email!

Have any of you heard anything yet? I was told they would be sending out decisions last week, but I still don't have an email...

No, I haven't :( A kid in my Patho class said he heard they were sending decisions yesterday (though he applied to the transfer program for a first bachelor's degree). All I've gotten recently is a message about my residential status (I applied as in-state, but b/c I haven't lived in Michigan long enough, I have to provide some other documentation or pay out-of-state tuition).

Has anyone heard anything? There might be a lot of seats open since they took so long to give people decisions, they may have already accepted spots in other programs!

Anna, I hope you're right about people choosing other schools instead of waiting to hear from U of M! Benni84, I also got that email about residency. I've been in MI for 2 years now, and I was also born here and lived here for several years growing up. Do you know how long you have to be here to be considered a resident for tuition?

Good luck everyone! I hope we don't have to wait much longer! Have any of you been accepted to any other schools?

Based on this link (Residency - Office of the Registrar), there are a bunch of reasons why they would determine you would be an out-of-state resident (such as living or working outside the state of Michigan any time in the past 3 years). You have to provide evidence in one of the ways listed to demonstrate residency eligibility. Did you move here for work? If you've been employed here full-time, then you should be good. I moved here for my boyfriend's job. They list moving for a spouse or partner as a valid way to establish residency, so hopefully I'll be okay even though we aren't married.

I haven't been accepted to any other schools yet, but I applied to Eastern Michigan's accelerated program. They admit people based on a points system. I have 20 more points than last year's cutoff, so I feel secure that I'll get in there. I'm not that psyched to go there though--I really just want to get into UM!

Thanks for the info, Benni84! I haven't been working, since I've been in school full time. I moved here because I was living with my parents and they moved here. Hopefully I'll still be able to get in-state, since this is my permanent residence now! I'm getting so nervous because I haven't received an email yet...I was told decisions would be sent last week! I might try to call tomorrow...I hate to be that person, but the wait is killing me!
