the times ranking of 19 is up from 22 last year, and is the only australian entry in the top 20 (australian national university, ranked 16 last year, is now 23rd; monash holds steady at 33; the university of sydney is equal 38, up from 40; and the university of nsw is 40, down from 36 last year).
although it doesn't say so explicitly, i imagine nursing is included in the biomedicine ranking. the nine universities ranked higher for biomedicine were (in order): harvard (us), cambridge (uk), oxford (uk), karolinska institute (sweden), stanford (us), imperial college (uk), johns hopkins (us), beijing university (china) and berkley (us).
hope that helps :)
I know about the THE ranking but I would like to know from first hand experience about the actual situation there (eg. facilities, lecturers, curriculum etc).
How about finding jobs for U Melbourne nursing graduates ? Do employers actually prefer them ?
Like I said in an earlier post, my experience has not been with the school of nursing. However, I've been so happy with my UoM xperiences that I'm about to enrol in my third post-grad qualification there, so hopefully that tells you something about the campus, support etc.
From an employment perspective - I just asked one of the ACNs about hiring and she confirmed my suspicion - interview and references matter, where you trained doesn't even factor in. So IMGO the deciding factors when deciding where to study should be the course itself, practical experience, ease and cost of attending etc.
