Hi everyone!
I know our original UHV threads were moved here but let's try and post on here from now on!
Congrats to all of us who got accepted (I'm hoping everyone I've met and talked to on here got in)!
I was assigned to the Sugar Land campus. :)
bronslady,
I don't think the school will be providing stethoscopes. When I got fitten, Dr. Dune said that the school would pay for the lab coat and the one set of clinical scrubs. IF they give us one, it'll be one of the thin/cheaper ones. Those break easily and I was wanting to buy a better one any way. It's totally up to you. It's okay if you'd rather hold off for now, but I thought I'd extend the offer they were telling me about to everyone I knew that might need one :)
Also, I never got a response UNTIL i sent an e-mail to all the advisors and the [email protected] email. That's when they responded and confirmed that they had it. I'm assuming they are incredibly busy trying to get everything ready for us so I'm trying not to call or e-mail so much.
About the books, I made a list of all the books we'll need for this semester and it totaled to be about $1k. The books themselves weren't that expensive but there are 16 of them. I'm wondering if we need to purchase all of them at the beginning of the semester or as we go along in the semester as we need them. That sure is a lot of cash to shell out.
Also, I express mailed my scholarship forms and resume today. I didn't do the FAFSA because I don't qualify for financial aid. I've already tried before. :T
Anyway, thanks for the info guys!
Hey KStar - I think the UHV Scholarship application says that you must apply @ FASFA even if you don't qualify. You may want to look into it.
Also, I bought the first 7 books on the list through Amazon (resellers) and spent a little under $290. Wasn't too bad. Still waiting for all of them to come in but I bought from resellers that had thousands of feedback above 95% and I bought "NEW" books to make sure they had all the CDs. I'll let you know what I receive.
the forms that you downloaded and filled out is where it indicated a resume was required.
The scholarship forms were due yesterday so I don't think they have all that time to update our student centers, if they will at all. They haven't even updated our statuses of acceptance; how much more the scholarship forms that were due yesterday?
I'm just as anxious as you (I'm sure everyone is) but I think we all need to remain patient. I saw on the UHV website that the fall commencement is on 12/12 so I'm sure everyone is all very busy.
Give them some time...I'm sure they will answer and address everything that needs to be addressed soon.
Hi PWR,
Kstar is correct.I think they may just be taking a while because they are very busy.I mailed my scholarship application the day we were sent the email about it.It was a day or so before the interview even took place. But in my student center in my 'to do list' it has one item that says 'professional nursing school' and when I click it for more info it shows that my nursing school scholarship app was completed. This could be because I turned it in at the end of November before things got really busy so they already updated it in my student center.
I wouldn't worry about it.Everything will be fine, we just have to give them time to get everything updated in the system.

Hi everyone,
@PWR, I talked to the financial aid dept. yesterday and they said my financial aid status would be incomplete until I registered for classes. They said they dont award money until we are registered and to always look at your UHV email for awards notifications etc.She also emphasized the importance of applying for scholarships.I told her I already did so I was surprised that she didnt see that on file but it does show up in my student account on my 'to do' list as completed so I'm ok with that.As far as papers to turn in, I turned in the regular UHV scholarship application and the school of nursing app.One of them must be submitted with your resume' also and of course you must electronically submit your FASFA. So I think everything is on hold until we are registered in our classes. So thanks for that info Kstar.I would have been going crazy if they still had my admissions status as incomplete for that long had I not known they wanted us to wait until the 17th.LOL
Also did you all get emails verifying that they recieved your acceptance acknowledgment form?I emailed the form and Ms.Whatley replied to my email saying it was recieved.
@Kstar, I dont mind buying the stethoscopes but are you sure we have to purchase our own?I only asked because I remember them saying that our uniforms would be included in our tution and I was just wondering if they were including any of the supplies also.Just a thought. If not, I'm down for getting them at the discounted group rate. Also do you know of any other supplies we need and have you purchased any textbooks yet?
