University of Houston 2nd Degree BSN Spring 2019

Published

Hello everyone, I'm not sure if anyone has made a thread for the Spring 2019 cycle application but here's the thread. A little information about me i graduated at the University of Houston Spring 2017 with a bachelors in psychology and minor in psychology. I'm seeking to get a second bachelors degree in nursing. This program is very rigorous and competitive so im nervous about getting in. I'm taking my TEAS by the end of June. Good luck to everyone!

Please leave any comments, concerns or any information so we can bond together. :)

Anyone find a clinic or healthcare facility that provides the required shots at low cost or free of charge, in or around the Houston area? If you could share it here, it would be a great help for all the students starting this Spring.

Thanks in advance

I'm just going to my regular doctor, but you might try the city health department...

Does anyone have any recommendations on apartments and does anyone potentially need a roommate?

I found a clinic out in Texas City, it's not free but it's the cheapest I could find without insurance. They do not provide Hep C and do not administer Meningitis shots for people over 21, but all other shots can be got for approximately $88. It's called Galveston County Health District.

Any advice on when we should obtain the CPR certification? Only reason I ask is if I get certified this weekend, I would have to be recertified before the end of the school year in 2019. If I wait till the end of November or first week of December then it may be good till the end of classes.

Also, when we get fitted for the uniforms... Do we scan the receipt and email it to the SON? Or am I missing something in Castlebranch to upload that documentation?

1. I did CPR already, and mine's good for 2 years, so it'll be good through the end of school. You have to talk the BLS/CPR for healthcare workers from the American ♥️ Assn.

2. I thought we didn't have to have the Meneningitis shot if we were over 21?

3. I went to the Uniform place today - they are super nice and very helpful. I'm guessing they give the info to UH, since there's no place to show proof of purchase? Not sure...

Does anyone know if the black scrubs we need also need the logo?

Nope just regular ole black scrubs i got mine from the thrift shop brand new for like $4

Awesome thank you!

Has anybody signed onto Castlebranch yet? The clinical requirements are all showing up as overdue with last years' dates

I think they accidentally left last years due dates, but don't worry about it saying 2017. As you complete your to-do list, the orange overdue bubbles will turn green complete.
