Did you guys hear that university hospital put out a job add for nurses not from colorado... I also heard that they take preference to people from out of state for their new grad residency too... does anyone have any idea why they would do that??? Kinda ****** me off,, there are plenty of nurses who live in CO. that would love to work there, including me!

I know that university hospital posts traveler nurse positions, which only accepts out of state nurses, but these are only short term contracts. And in the most recent new grad residency program, the overwhelming majority of nurses hired were from in state.

No, I've never heard that they take preference of out of state nurses for their residency program. I know several new nurses who are in their residency program, and all of them have graduated from local universities.
They do have several traveler positions, which are short-term. They currently have a need for short term positions while they train for their facility-wide transition to the Epic computer charting system (which is taking place this spring/summer). That's why there are so many traveler positions open right now, but they *do* hire locals for the travel positions.
