University of Hawaii-MEPN PROGRAM...anyone heard about it?

U.S.A. Hawaii

I'm applying for UH MEPN program for Fall 2009. Has anyone heard about the program? It's fairly new but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into...lol. I know overall, nursing school is tough but would like some feedback on the MEPN program itself.

Thanks!

AjBob, Did you have your interview today? It probably went better than you think!

I did, and I really don't think so.... :'(

But thank you!

I'm sorry :crying2: Is Hawaii your top choice? Have you applied elsewhere? If you don't feel like talking about it I understand...I hope you feel better!!

Top pick, it's ok what can I do now....next year.

Good luck everyone!!!

Ps- I had three interviewers?

AjBob...u had 3 interviewers?? wow...that must have been pretty intense. I am really nervous about mines as well. I am scheduled for march 9. i will give you the heads up as to how the interview goes. i wish us all luck!! they are interviewing a total of 83 people. so out of the 207 people that applied, i am happy to have made it this far. if i don't get it, i guess there will always be next year.

AjBob and erigrl, Did you two only apply to Hawaii? Do you live there? I am very interested in learning more about what applicants like about the program. I applied because they have an accelerated FNP program and I like their vision and mission, but I also applied to seven other schools.

If you have time, would you (or any others reading this) tell me what you think they strengths of the program are and why it is your top choice?

Thanks and good luck to both of you!

Malapata,

I went to UM for my undergrad, and it's my top/ only choice because it's where I want to work- Pac. Islands population.

That's great you have applied so many places, where else? What's your top pick?

Thanks for your reply. I understand your reasons for wanting to go to UM. I applied to UCSF, Seattle U, University of Rochester (accepted), University of Southern Maine (denied), Virginia Commonwealth (denied) and University of Vermont. UCSF is my top choice. I had an interview in January but I'm trying not to get my hopes up :uhoh3:

Malapata,

Yes I do currently live here in hawaii. =) I also graduated from UHM. UHM is also my top/only choice as of this moment. If I do not get in for this coming fall, I possibly plan to apply for next fall as well as to other schools. I am interested in UHM because of their accelerated PNP program. It is good learning about the other applicants =) and congratulations on getting in to the University of Rochester. I would have liked to apply to UCSF but I did not take my GRE's yet so I was unable to apply.

erigrl, Thanks for the response. I wish you the best of luck with everything!

Hi all! Just joined the allnurses. Mostly because I am freaking out waiting for replies from schools! Your comments are so helpful. Do you think they are all done contacting people for the MEPN interview? I did not get a call to schedule one! I'm pretty much heartbroken because I thought I would at least get an interview... I know there are tons of wonderful applicants out there, but still, it's disappointing and I'm kind of surprised. Had an interview at UCSF, keeping my fingers crossed on that. And I'm on the waitlist at University of San Diego-- anyone else apply there?

Lindzer, They might still be interviewing. My interview was only last week...The only thing is that I think they sent a mass email to everyone telling them to expect a phone call to schedule the interview. Perhaps they'll send another round of emails though.

Best of luck to you with everything!
