University of Hawaii Manoa 2013 MEPN Program

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Just started the app for this school's program. Anyone else thinking of applying here? I'm pretty annoyed at how expensive the application is: $100 for the grad school and $65 for the NursingCAS application system! This will be one of my fallback schools in case I don't get into my favorites...but the surf life and the tropical breeze does sound very very appealing! Also, anyone know anything about this school's reputation?

Thanks!

Sam

I was told that applications are still being reviewed too but decisions are being made time permitting. I think it also has to do with when you submitted your app but that's just pure speculation on my part. This wait is hard on me because UH is really the only school I want to attend. I am already trying to see how I can stregnthen my app until next year because I intuitively feel like it's going to be a no. One day....

@lalida - my undergrad GPA was 3.3 and my grad GPA was 3.9.

@atkpop - Congrats! Yeah, since I'm coming from Cali, I might get stuck with the $80k first year cost. Need to figure out how to establish residency or somehow get some Hawaiian blood into my bloodstream if I decide to go to UH.

@marli17 - I applied for the dual FNP and MPH

Yep I just know that if you get a letter before an acceptence email then you got rejected and that they are still working on reviewing apps. I have been checking my emails a rediculous amount of time today...

@samdaman I know for residency you have to live there and have a job for 1 year without being a student. I am in the same boat if I get accepted because I just used up all of my VA tuition waiver for my B.S.

Finally got a chance to look at their acceptance letter and I need to register my Intent by Jan 4th. Decisions decisions...

still....no....word.... ugh

I received a call from one of the individuals reviewing applications about three weeks ago. He wanted to know why I choose NP school over Medical School and asked about my medical internship. Everyday since then I have been religiously checking my mail, but have yet to receive any news. From what I have gathered from this forum, no news is good news. Has anyone received any rejection or acceptance letters? Good luck to us all!!!!!!

I just joined the site today. Have you heard anything from UH? I haven't received a rejection letter or an acceptance email.....this is sooooo stressful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well at least you got a call asking for some more info. I got no phone call and no letter/email. I'm just wondering what's going on with it. What track did you apply for if you don't mind me asking. I just wanted to see if it's just the one track that has people calling and asking questions, FNP/MPH I think.

I'm kind of thinking no news is also bad news. Like if I got accepted wouldn't they have notified me by now?

Since the website still says that the application deadline is Dec 1st but it's rolling admissions, my assumption is that all applications are already submitted. If it was truly a rolling admissions process there shouldn't be a deadline right? I really don't get what their understanding of rolling admissions is. I doubt there are any more people submitting applications so if you haven't heard anything yet I think you're still in the running for admissions. Just my take.

I too am waiting to hear from UH... I also received a phone call about 3 weeks ago asking some questions about my application. I am applying to the FNP track. I know that the admissions office closed on December 17th for the holidays and will reopen January 2nd, so I was under the impression that all decisions would have been made before the break. Especially since samdaman's admittance letter said that he needs to have the deposit in by January 4th if he decides to go there. Who knows, maybe they are still working on apps during their break? But the wait is definitely grueling

I'm wondering why they didn't call me to ask questions now lol! Oh dear.
