University of Cincinnati or Georgetown CNM program???

Specialties CNM

Hi Everyone!  I just got into both Cincinnati and Georgetown’s CNM programs and I’m trying to decide which program? Does anyone have any insight into either of these programs? Also, do you know if you can continue to work part-time while in clinical? I know Georgetown recommends you don’t work your last 2 semesters because you’re on call a lot.  Any other helpful info you have about either program? Thanks in advance!

LMB123 hello! I am wondering what you are finding out as well. I have been accepted into UC and Frontier and can not decide! Frontier seems to have lots of community focused and team building. I just want my degree! What are you finding out!

Congrats! Unfortunately I haven’t found out much and still haven’t made a decision.  I am leaning more towards Georgetown because of their involvement in your clinical placement. However, it is a lot more expensive so that’s the  reason I haven’t fully decided.  I have been told that they are both great programs which doesn’t make my decision any easier! LOL Have you heard anything about UC? I did watch an information session that UC had recorded on Youtube, the director was taking about their program. You might wanna check that out! I have also heard that Frontier is more community based. When do you have to decide by? I don’t have long to make my decision!

Who did you end up choosing? I heard the same thing although Georgetown is pricey  its a "get what you pay for" kind of philosophy They place you not in crappy places or expects you to have a network in place already

Hi! I went with UC. Both frontier and UC have you find Clinicals, but most hospitals have programs set up to apply for Clinicals. Cleveland clinic, University Hospitals and MetroHealth here all have programs for clinical placement! UC took all my transfer courses so it saved me 2 semesters of work! How about you? Go with your gut!

I just interviewed with Georgetown so will just wait to see what happens Which transfer credits did they accept?

Sorry, I didn’t see this post until now. I decided on Georgetown because of the clinical placement aspect. So far I feel very supported and classes haven’t even started yet. They give you a student success counselor, an academic advisor, and a clinical placement specialist.  So far I have no regrets! Very excited to start the program in May!! Good luck! Hope to see you in my classes!

Congrats!! How long after your interview did it take to receive your acceptance letter? Can I ask what your background is with mother-baby?

Thanks! I think it was about 2 weeks or so! I actually don’t have mother baby experience. I’m an ICU nurse currently. I have always had a passion for Women’s Health and Pregnancy so I am very excited to start this new journey.

I just did a quick search for Georgetown CNM and found this thread - wanted to say that I'm starting GU's online CNM/WHNP program in August 2021 and hope to meet some of you! I am jumping straight in from my BSN, but that's because I'm older and I've been wanting this for 20 years since my first child. . .Georgetown is super supportive, clear, and provide plenty of advocacy. They also have the history of being, well, a prestigious institute and have lots of social justice involvement, which I love. Best of luck to all of us.
