University of Cincinnati FNP Fall 2018

Published

Hi everyone! I applied to the University of Cincinnati FNP program (online)-Fall 2018. Is there anyone else who has applied for this Fall 2018? Do you know of anyone whose been accepted or rejected? I look forward to hearing back from you guys :)

Is there a FB page for UC FNP fall 2018?

Specializes in ER.

yes there is a page

Specializes in ER.

I was accepted on 6/12, paid app fee 6/1, submitted in nursing CAS 5/30.

Hey there! I have also been accepted for the fall 2018 program starting August 27th. Is there a facebook group started? I would love to join if so!

Yes, there is a Fb site. Are you doing PM-FNP or MSN-FNP?

I feel a little silly saying this, but I don't know what those are. I believe I'm MSN-FNP?

There is nothing to feel sily about

MSN-FNP is if you currently have BSN you are achieving MSN and FNP, that being said you have to cover the masters progrsm and move on to FNP. If you already have MSN you just do Postmasters-FNP

The PM-FNP is essentially shorter with few theory classes but need to complete 672 hrs of clinicals

Hi guys,

I just got accepted to the FNP cohort for this upcoming fall. Any updates on the program? How are you all liking it?

I have several questions if anyone can answer any of them I would greatly appreciate it!

how are the classes formatted? Are there a lot of exams or paper writing and group work. How do they teach and grade assessments since there are no campus visits? Is faculty supportive? Are there any capstone projects. Do they help with any clinical placement. Sorry those are a lot of questions. I just want to make sure it will work out with my family and work to better prepare.

Thanks a bunch!

Hi there,

CONGRATS! I’m loving the program. I extended my program a lot so I only have two classes a semester. I only have two classes and clinical left and have enjoyed the program.

The lectures are online and almost all tests are proctored. There’s about 4 exams per class. I’ve written two long papers and only had one or two group projects so far. Most faculty are great...most. They don’t really help with clinical placement and a lot of students are currently struggling even more than usual due to covid. But by the time you get to clinical that issue should be resolved (hopefully) and will be the typical struggle to lock down clinical sites.

Overall, I am very happy with my choice.

Thank you so much for replying! I'm glad you're still enjoying it that gives me some reassurance. I want to make sure I'm making a right decision going there. How long are the classes? someone mentioned they are actually about 10 weeks long and not the full 16 weeks? that confused me haha and are they really just a bunch of case studies?

I'm so glad I won't have to write a paper every other week. I cannot imagine the struggle you guys face with covid going on. I hope it gets better soon. Do you have any tips I can use to better prepare before starting? or study tips? Again thank you so much for replying.

All classes are 15/16 weeks. Nope, a lot more than just case studies. Not a lot of classes have the case studies.

Each class has a facebook page. Add yourself to that group each semester. That’s my best tip!
