Haven't seen a thread so starting one for Fall 2025! 🙂

Agreed. At this point, my heart races when I see the schools name LOL
For those of you who haven't received an interview invitation, I just want to say stay positive! There's still room for positive outcomes. Hang in there, and don't lose hope! Here's why:
Not being invited to the initial round of interviews does not necessarily mean rejection, especially since UCI has explicitly stated that interviews may be required, not guaranteed for all applicants. There's still a possibility you could be admitted without an interview, or receive an invitation in a later wave.
A Virtual Interview May Be Required
The word "may" suggests that not all candidates will be required to interview. This could mean some highly competitive applicants might bypass the interview stage and be admitted based solely on their application. Interviews might only be used to clarify certain aspects of a candidate's application, particularly for borderline applicants or those where additional evaluation is needed.
Admissions in Waves
UCI has stated decisions and updates will come as late as Spring 2025. This rolling process could mean more interview invitations or decisions might still go out later. It's possible that your application is in a later batch and hasn't been reviewed yet. There could be applicants admitted later without an interview, based on the strength of their application alone. The admissions process isn't strictly sequential or the same for everyone. Different applicants may experience different pathways: Some might receive interview invites early. Others might bypass interviews and receive direct offers of admission. Some might be considered in later batches for interviews or final decisions.

I don't think we know for sure. I think the confirmation email we all received was purposefully vague. I didn't get an interview invite yet. I applied on 11/18 (just so my timeline is out there) if I do get an interview invite I'll update the group! If not... I have other options! Best of luck to everyone!

It seems like no one gets the invitation today. When I asked about the interview during an info session, the program advisor told me if you don't get an interview invitation, it doesn't mean you are rejected. I also haven't got an invitation and seems this year is quite different from previous cycles. Will see.

This is a good point. I think the ambiguity of whether interviews were required in the email could hint at a change in their admissions process.
