University of Calgary BNAT Questions

Published

Hi! I'm new to this forum and hopefully, this isn't a repeat topic! I haven't seen much about U of C's BNAT program yet...

Are there any U of C BNAT students out there who can tell me what the program is like? I applied for the Fall intake and am just waiting to complete my finals for this semester so I can send my transcript in.

What is the teaching style like for that nursing program? PBL? Lecture-style?

Also, if you don't mind answering, what was your GPA when you were admitted into the program? On the website, it says the competitive GPA for 2009 for 3.0 but for 2008, it was a little higher. Maybe someone can give me some insight for this year's intake?

Any information is much appreciated! Thanks in advance. :)

Hey there,

I'm a BNAT grad from '05. I won't say too much given that I've read the posts about the program having been re-vamped, but personally I thought the program was great. It was, however, very fast and very "heavy" in terms of workload (please don't try to work at a part-time job as you go through the program!), but you'll be through it before you know it. I passed the CRNE on my first try and am currently working on a MScN through York U, so I feel that U of C's undergrad nursing program prepared me well academically.

True, the public transit system isn't the best, but if you're living on campus or close to the C-train line, getting to your clinical placements won't be too bad. I lived in a basement apt in Sunnyside and walked to the C-train ... the most difficult placement to get to for me was the Rockyview Hosp.

Best of luck! :nurse:

hi vta3,

i am kind of in the same situation as you were in. i am currently on bcit's hold listfor jan 2011 itake and garanteed a place for aug 2011. i also have an admission offer from uofc;yet it seems like a dilemma on wheather to go to uofc or wait to start bsn at bcit. i was wondering if you could tell me if you chose to go to uofc ;if yes how did you find the program?

Hey everyone! I just recently got accepted for the transfer route program at UofC for Jan 2012 =D! Has anyone else been accepted to the same program? If you have completed the transfer program - how did you find it?
