Has anyone applied to this program to start Fall of 2023? Looking to chat and keep in touch through this process! I am getting my PALS certification next week and then should be submitted right after!
Oh wow, I thought they filled their seats already. I didn't know they were still doing interviews. I mean know the things you do already on your ICU. The drips and mechanism of action. Any devices your work with (IABP, impella, etc) Blood products is something I was asked. For example, clotting factors for your cryo and plasma. You'll prepare but you won't be prepared. I really did prep for it but I didn't go over the clotting cascade and they asked me questions specific to it (I.e cryo and plasma) They faculty members were amazing and knowledgeable and they really did a good job to help keep you calm during the whole thing. But it was still very intimidating. They want to see how you perform under pressure and also see if they can walk you through some critical thinking. I didn't get in there this cycle but the program is good, it's well established and the faculty members were really nice. At the end they encouraged us to keep being curious. If there's something at work you're not familiar with, ask questions and really understand the concepts. Ask the "why's" and "how's" Good luck prepping!

And also good luck to your other 2 applications, I also applied at UAMS but got denied. Thanks again
Joefilipino said:It was this past Friday. It was definitely a pleasant surprise because I didn't hear anything from them until Thursday. They told me I may have gotten a denial letter in the mail but wanted to interview still. So now I'm on line and needles about an acceptance of denial letter.
UAMS was one of the 3 schools that offered me an interview, out of the seven schools I put apps in. TBH I'm used to the the denials at this point, BUT still hopeful.
I guess we're on the same boat then... got an invite Thursday to interview Friday... did they say why they changed their mind and offer you an interview?

I have no idea why they changed their mind but it was a very pleasant surprise. I definitely shared that thought with them LOL
