University of Arizona Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Program

Nursing Students SRNA

I am looking for insight on the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia program at University of Arizona. It is partly online. It is accredited by the "Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs".

I spoke with a leading CRNA in my hometown. He stated that he had not heard of this program, but after hearing me describe it, would not hire someone educated there. Has anyone had trouble, or heard of any issues, with employment at a large medical center after graduating from UofA? I am debating going to school, but whether or not I have to move is an important factor for me. I also do not want to attend a program where people tend to get pigeonholed as someone who might not be able to work at a large medical system.

Thank you!

My info is outdated (3 years ago). The program is new. They don't have great clinical sites (they encourage you to find people who will precept you). It is at a top medical university and I am confident that the program will turn out to be great, but as of 3 years ago when I was applying, I was not impressed. In AZ there is also Midwestern, but their extensive travel requirements for clinical also deterred me from going there.

there isn't much info on the nursing school's website, so I emailed.

looks like it is structured for the first (summer) semester in Tucson, then four semesters distance learning, then four semesters in Tucson/Phoenix or both for the four semesters of clinicals combined with additional online coursework.
