Hello there! I just wanted to start this thread to see if there were any people applying to UAB for next fall for their nurse practitioner program? I am applying to the BSN to DNP-Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program. Anyone know how the current pandemic might affect the application process? Thank you all in advanced, looking forward to hearing from you all and starting this journey.

Hello @tiffanyrpollock! Yes I have finished my application, but I am just waiting on my recommendations, and transcripts to be sent. Any idea on when they will start to review applications?

I went to their virtual open house meetings and they said we should know a decision by December?

What kind of information did they talk about in the open house?

They talked about the program requirements, what they are looking for, deadlines, scholarship information, what time frame you would expect to hear a decision... you can go to their website and sign up for a zoom information session!

why did you choose DNP and not MSN?

Thank you for sharing I will sign up for one! And I chose a DNP because I know in the future I probably would not want to go back to school again, and have to get the DNP, I would rather just be finished at this point.

I get your point... but DNP isn’t required now so I’m taking my chances LOL!

Yes the DNP programs are 3 years!

I have not heard anything... they did send an email saying we would hear a decision in December?

There will be an email sent with decisions in December? So is this for an interview or for admission to the program?

Well the email will be a decision offer but than again this is for the Summer 2021 admission not the Fall.
