Univ. of San Fran ME-CNL

Is anyone applying to the University of San Fran Master's Entry CNL program for the Jan. start? No one ever seems to be talking about this program...

I am applying for the Summer of 2009. Did you apply there for Jan 2009?

Yea I applied and got in for Jan! I am very excited, let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Duke,

So how difficult was it to get in? I have a BS and MS in electrical engr and worked for about 5 years than decided to be a stay at home mom and am just finishing off all the pre-reqs. I have a 4.0 in the pre-reqs thus far. I was looking online and it says that they look at your community service/volunteer....I do not have this since watching my daughter full time and goign to school part time leaves me no time. Do you think this is will be weighed heavily? Also who did you pick to write your letters of recommendation, I am thinking of getting a former client I worked with and my engineering advisor/

Thanks....sorry for bugging you.

Hi FijiIslands!

I have also been accepted for the Spring '09 with Duke. :D

Personally I have almost 2.5 years of volunteer experience at the local hospital where I was helping out approximately 4-5 hours/week (not too terribly much), plus do you have your CNA license? That's required for the MEO (Master's Entry Option) CNL program.

I had my BA in Anthropology, my letters of recommendation where from my CNA instructor and my volunteer supervisor.

Good luck!

Thanks Amy.....than I am screwed!! I dod not have a CNA license, have a EMT license but I know that wouldn't count. I did not see anywhere about the CNA license thing, but thanks so much for letting me know, I guess I'll finish that up this coming semester and apply for fall.

Did they remove this requirement??? I noticed it is gone from their web page. It used to be, maybe from here on out it isn't. Hmm..

I'm applying to the USF program for Summer '09.

Does anyone know how competitive it is, in terms of numbers; how many apply, how many get accepted?

Thanks!

I am not sure how many apply but I am pretty sure that more apply for the May/summer start than the Jan/spring start. I think for May, probably a few hundred apply because most programs start around then too. For Jan, it's prob more like 80 or something. May is prob a lot more competitive. I know that accept in the 20's for each cohort...I think my friend told me about 24 for her class last May. Hope that helps, and as with other programs, having most pre-reqs done, high gpa, and some sort of experience makes you a good candidate.

I applied to this program for the summer 09 start!

Has anyone heard anything with respect to interviews?

USF does not do interviews for the ME-CNL program; just the application! Hopefully you hear soon. Good luck and let us know! :D
