Hi Marie,

I just took the plunge. I start in May. Once I start the program, feel free to reach out to me. I will give you any insights I may have or that have been imparted to me. Wishing you the best. You've got this.

Hello,

I am planning on going back to school to pursue my MSN FNP degree. I have narrowed down my search for schools to Herzing University, but then discovered this discussion concerning United States University and its FNP program. I definitely like the tuition that USU offers to the students. I also like the positive feedback from students that are attending or graduated from the program. Any thoughts that you may have concerning the two universities would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

Thanks

Hi James,

I was enrolled at Herzing and liked their set up. At the end of the day I went with USU for the price and pass rate. A few months ago, Herzing's pass rate was in the high 80s. I have a friend who who graduated from USU in December and is working as an FNP now. Also, I called some recruiters in my area and asked their advice. They said they never ask what University one has attended. They only want to see you've passed your boards.

Herzing supplies books and had some great ways of delivering materials. You do have to purchase your books with USU, but the ebooks are cheap enough. As with any education online, you get out of it what you put into it.

Good luck! Choosing a school was the hardest part for me.

Linda

I agree with Linda. When I had my job interview, they did not ask which school or university I graduated from. All they cared was my license, NPI, DEA. And they were happy when I said I have my license already. Big or small univ, it's a challenge to look for a job when you're new. I feel lucky to find a job after a month and half of looking. Also, it is important to join like associations and linkedln[networking]. I have recruiters sending me messages. It's nice to talk to them and let them know that you're a new grad. Who knows they have a job waiting for you!

Anyway, goodluck to you!

Thanks so much Linda and Rachizzy for providing me some great feedback with this endeavor. I have weighed the pro and cons of each school and at the end of the day, both of you are correct. I plan on working hard and learning everything possible to become a better nurse. I feel the same way towards the tuition and pass rate at USU.

Thanks again

I have a niece that just graduated from USU only thing negative was no help with clinical sites, I will start in Sept and feeling very anxious. I live in NC but most schools I explored were not appealing to me. I would welcome any guidance

I start in May and feel very confident about my choice after speaking to several current students. As far as clinical sites, I plan on starting early to secure mine. Most online schools have you secure your own clinical sites. I will keep you all updated.

Hello everyone! I am starting the FNP program with USU starting in a few days! May 5th. Anyone else? I feel at the moment I’m most anxious about perfecting APA format ??. I haven’t had to use that writing style in over 10 years. Best of luck to all of you!

I'm at USU now and finished my bachelor's not long ago. I think I wrote something like 37 papers. You can use PERRLA software for formatting. Also, grammarly is really good to brush up your style of writing. I'm happy to answer any questions.
