Has anyone done this program? I'm looking into it and it seems great but there are hardly any updates reviews. Thanks!

@CANURSE999

Wow! You did it for only 18 mos? You're amazing!?

I will do my best to start ASAP?. I plan to double my courses for the first year too. Who did you talk to about it??

The earlier you start, the better.24 months.

You are able to enroll in 1 or 2 classes at the beginning. Read my prior post regarding what to expect from the classes. Another thing I forgot to point out. Be prepared to have different teachers (from different classes) interpret the base syllabus differently. You'll get dinged points from some and not others based on their interpretation.

Thank you for the the helpful tips @Gina1992 and @perfectzero01 ?

We really appreciate all the information you've shared to us?

Yes it’s CCNE and just passed their CA BRN reaccredidation.

I doubled up courses the first year and finished in 18 Months ?

Start ASAP and get it over with.

Hi, It's amazing that you have done in 18 months. how did you take 2 courses at a time, if you take 2 courses, does the work load same or (discussions, quiz, assignment) doubles ? Is it doable? If I remember correctly, the student advisor at the beginning said to take 1 course at a time.

Totally doable in 18 months but yes it is double everything.

Just remember your second year your classes double up anyways (double discussion boards, presentations, and clinical rotations etc) so it is really a good prep and gets you up to speed quick on expectations as it doesn’t feel so crazy since you have already been doing it.

Best advice is to cram it in and get it behind you. I knew of a handful of people from my cohort who did it and most have just finished and already started their DNP.

@CANURSE999

Thank you for the advise! After finishing the MSN FNP program at USU do you feel that you're ready for the boards?

Why would they start the DNP....its not required for FNPs

Honestly, I did okay on the HESI APRN but not sure how I would do with boards. Thankfully in California they are not required but I do plan on taking them.

DNP is the terminal degree and most teachers push the importance for teaching etc.

All the best with your boards @CANURSE999

Do you plan on pursuing DNP as well? If yes how many credits do you still need to complete after MSN FNP at USU??

Yes and most programs range 31-39.

Hello!

I just signed up today! Nervous and excited! I start October 29. I will be doing one class every 8 weeks. I’m in no hurry. My questions are:

1. Are the Hesi tests in the first year or second?

2. I was told that they find your clinical preceptor, is this true?

3. Are there a lot of papers to write and if so what format do they use?

4. To those that have completed, did they find your clinical sites and or preceptors. I was also told that if I had a place in mind I could use that if I gave them enough notice to get a contract with them.

TIA!

Cate
