With the abundance of schools that accept students with no prerequisites, board exams that are pretty simple, no wonder MD's and PA's look down on the role. Obviously, those NP's who think being a provider is nursing 2.0 are in for a rude awakening.This eventually will lead to a decline in pay, and more of a preference for PA's.

I should mention when compared to cost of living, its on the low end.

NP pay is way better in Texas and the midwest than in California, thats for sure.

90 Percent of NP schools do not prepare students. If you have been in at a clinic with other PA's or MD/DO students you would know that most NP's don't know much. It is embarrassing and will lead to the role of the NP meaning nothing in due time. If the AANP, ANCC and state boards do not enforce certain entrance exams for schools and make the board exams more stringent this will lead to NP's becoming a joke. Especially when you have around 30000 students graduating each year compared to 7000 PA's.

I think you missed the bigger picture, in an individualistic society like the US where its all about me me me, in situations like this those new grads will accept anything yet know little and be used like a next level RN. The actions of schools allowing those with no nursing experience or even entrance exams into an NP Program degrades the profession. Those studies they teach you in school are a joke. And with everyone thinking they can be a provider the NP role will continue to make less and mean nothing. I remember in my urgent care rotation there were another NP and a PA and DO. When we asked questions to the other NP about 1st line tx for pyelo she was like what's that. It's embarrassing. There needs to be a big change, which starts by emailing the AANP.

I took the AANP exam last month and was surprised how simple it was. It was kinda ridiculous that most of the questions were one liners and just asked you to remember facts, very little critical thinking involved. Which is a reason why the NP profession is going downhill with so many online diploma mills where anyone can just grab a degree, now to your point about NP's undervaluing themselves, its because we are undervalues, there so many of us and anybody that studies a test bank can pass the tests, thats how easy it was. LOL and Doctors and PA's know this and is quite embarrassing especially in clinicals when I saw other NP's didn't know how to do a McMurray test.

Literally surprised by the amount of people who are going to online NP school and don't have any knowledge of simple things like S2 S2. Some schools accept people with no acute care experience. There is a lady who has only been a nurse in a detention facility going to NP school. Let that sink in.

The main difference is why you should vote for Sanders. Firefighters and Cops are socialized where healthcare isn't. Did you really think corporations would be in the interest of their employees or the public.

You must be new to nursing. I have seen nurses refuse patients all the time and get assignments switched, that is not neglect. And if safety is at risk you CAN refuse. Dont quote laws or statutes if you have no idea what you are saying.
