Frontier PMHNP Winter 2022
Yes the cost thing is huge for me too. Glad you're getting some support for this through your employer. Mine offers minimal contribution so I'll have to get creative. I'm wondering if the Frontier Bound orientation will be changed to virtual due to increased COVID. I am on the Frontier FB Hopefuls page and I read we should know if we're accepted end of Aug and most likely beginning of Sept. Wish you the best!

Frontier PMHNP Winter 2022
I sometimes consider moving somewhere else but having lived in the PNW all my life I would miss them too. I just think I need to spend more time in other places. Have you applied at other programs besides Frontier? I'm waiting to find out if I get in then will apply to two others if I don't (Washington State University and Gonzaga). Frontier is definitely my first choice.

The best RN to NP online program for WA nurses
I'm also looking into Gonzaga and WSU for the hybrid program. While WSU is hybrid it sounds like it's mostly online. Gonzaga is very well known and seems to offer a lot of support. I'm just starting to really narrow down my search for schools in Washington state due to living here, name recognition (especially when it comes to finding clinical sites/preceptors).

Cannabis nurse certification?
Yes! The best post! I just watched the ANA webinar today "Medical Cannabis: Beyond the Smoke and Mirrors" presented by Carey S. Clark, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN. So much information including what you posted here:) I highly recommend this webinar!

What’s with “researching” patients before clocking in?! Is this a standard?
I work inpatient adult psychiatry. It sort of sounds like a unit culture thing. I would be very concerned about HIPPA violation. As a psychiatric nurse I continue to fine tuned my own boundaries for a healthy work-life balance. This means not working for free, ensuring privacy for the people I care for (HIPPA), trusting the process of report/SBARR and speaking up if there is a concern. These are just a few of the things that allow me to show up to work ready to go each day. I also make a point to not engage with those who want to discuss patient care in the unit break room. I watch comedy or read a book instead. I do these things so that I can continue to work in this very acute setting. There is a high burn out rate for nurses and showing up early, without pay, to read up on patients seems like a way to fast track the burn out.
