United States University (USU) FNP program January 2021

Nursing Students NP Students

Updated:   Published

Hope everyone is doing well. I write this post in the hopes of finding other current students of USU's FNP program; specifically, those that are starting this January as well. I applied and was accepted for the January cohort however, I wanted to hear if others have insight about their program based on personal experience. I'd be so grateful for any input.

Thank you!

Hello all,

My cooment is a few.years after this thread, I am researching this school and I'm looking for accreditation. I see there is a masters accreditation. Does that count.for FNP, for me to sit for boards and work as a licensed FNP in IL?

Hi guys, I am looking to apply to this school and wanted to get some input on clinical rotations. I know we have to find our own. Did you find it challenging to find your own?  or do you think the first year was enough time to prepare and get some contacts in place for this?

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi, I'm just starting next week. But I know a few people that are in the program and have to find their own clinical.

Make as many contacts as you can now so you have some lined up is what I'm doing.

Hello. I just applied hoping to start the FNP program in January 2024. Anyone have insights on the program? Thanks

Mary, I had one of my comments on here edited to remove said group name before.  So frustrating.  Just type in school name and major to see what pops up.

It's been a while .... I wanted to continue to encourage those of you in the program who have heard/seen negative comments or references to USU as a "diploma mill" (it is NOT) that those come from a place of ignorance.

There *are* diploma mills.  By definition, those are institutions that lack accreditation and simply exist to gain a profit off unsuspecting "students".   THOSE are to be avoided.

I'm well into my program at Purdue University, where I certainly would not have been accepted had I gone to a diploma mill!  The goal is to finish, go full-time (working part-time with a state delegate psychiatrist, which is wonderful), then pursue a PhD in nursing education.

All the best to you!

Let me first advice anyone that wants to go do MSN FNP program at United States University. Do not go, they attract you with their cheap tuition but wait till you get to the 3Ps especially Physical Assessment. Most NP schools do not give live physical assessment which you have to go and be looking every week for someone to use if you do not have family members. It is too stressful doing Physical Assessment in your home. Then you battle with head to toe assessment where they will have you memorize about 120 items. Run folks. Go to schools like National University, Capella.

United States University is too stressful with their every week videos in MSN 572. I regret going to the school. My happiness is gone.

Is this currently? What's happened? I haven't started my three p's, I'm a class or two away.

Hi Memegeg,

wow that sounds terrible sorry to hear that. I hope things get better for you. Don't give up keep going. I ended up going with National University. So far I am doing the core classes and my experience has been a good one. Hang in there.

Don't go to that school because it's "too hard"? You don't think a medical provider should be able to memorize body parts or watch weekly lectures? Your advising people go to easier schools? Wow

I think having to do the 3Ps with only 8 weeks each are a bit too rushed imo especially if you have been out of school for a while and having to learn almost everything yourself since the program is all asynchronous.

We gotta find a program that suits our study style. I had a good term with my first class at USU, but I will be transferring due to the fact that I want to attend a school with synchronous material.
