Ah, so I need to pick the specialty? I didn't know if there was someone who was over all of the unit secretaries. Do all specialties have unit secretaries? So I could try to get L&D or NICU?

When I work as a unit secretary thier was one person who did all the hiring for all the departments. That was the nurse manager. You can always ask the charge nurse who does that hiring becasue they are the superivisor's over the unit secretary.

I am a pre nursing student and I applied for a unit secretary position but the HR representative told me that I need to have experience. I have lot of experience in clerical jobs but never worked in a hospital before.

Any idea which hospital should apply? I applied already to UT Southwestern and childrens hospitals. Thanks.

Yes I do, try Baylor Irving. I just got hired there (I have no previous experience at all. I believe they have other unit secretary positions, and also at another Baylor Hospital in dallas. Call 817-835-5451. Ask them if they know of any unit secretary positions in their network.
