Is there any way to ask site to ban users who post argumentitive and uninformed posts. Posters who have no idea what it is like to work as a nurse in a dangerous setting. You are always required to assess the situation, no matter if it is a correctional facility, a LTC, or as a first responder. Stating that you are providing poor care from being cautious is dangerous to you and also the other inmates in facility. By his way of thinking, if there is a car accident, I am negligent for not running out through four lanes of traffic with cars flying past at 55 MPH. I don't believe so. I'm am going to wait for help to control traffic before I run out there. In the last ten years, five nurses and a CNA in separate car accidents were run over giving aid because they did not assess the scene or just did not care about their own safety. In NURSING SCHOOL AND DURING TRAINING you are taught proper triage and assessment. Guess that is why you don't know proper assessment skills.

EMS has it right. Their (our) basic premise is the heck with the patient. I know this is a nurse's website and nureses learn something a bit different, but worry about yourself first. You owe it to yourself and family.
#1 priority is You. so...
A) Is the scene safe? if not, don't approach the patient
B) BSI? don't have it, then don't approach the patient
If you, as responder or healthcare provider, get hurt then you're only going to delay help to those in need, you're going to tie up more resources, and you're going to confound an already difficult situation.
Number one goal at the start of a public safety shift: Go home unharmed.

I think we all know who you are referring to. Best advice, just IGNORE him! Don't respond. I feel your pain!!!!!!!!

Guys and gals just to remind you the site has an ignore user function. If you are frustrated with anyones posts or posting style you can go into "my account" select user control panel go to the settings section and you'll see "edit ignore list"
that way you no longer see their posts
If your concerned you can also report posts using the report function if they are off topic, inflammatory or personal attacks and one of the volunteer moderators will look at them.
If you want to discuss any if this you can PM me or post in the admin help desk
I'd also like to add how impressed I am with members professionalism and restraint in this forum, you deal with many extremely emotive discussion and you do so respecfully and professionally. Thank you
