Hi everyone!
With the deadline only a little over a month away, I figured we all need a place to stress, hope and worry! I just took my first stab at the TEAS and hit the average score of the past few years (335). I have a 3.9 GPA. One pre-req left. Applying for ABSN. I'm scheduled for a second TEAS attempt next month. How is everyone else doing? Drooling over stats as much as I am?? Any interview preparation plans?
Thanks everyone, I think we are sitting pretty from what I can tell. I wasn't nervous about the interview before, but after reading all the prep you all are doing, i'm starting to worry. When do you think that we will find out about whether or not we will be invited for an interview? I hope I can articulate why I want to be a nurse with poise without letting my nerves get the best of me! I actually went to China last summer for a student nursing delegation and it really opened my eyes to the world and the kind of good nursing can for everyone. I kind of want to work in little 3rd world countries all over the world, but i'm not so sure that is even possible lol!
I can't wait to meet you all! Hopefully some of us will get the same interview group and/or day/time. Maybe we could grab a coffee on campus and help each other the morning of. I know its way off but I am an extensive planner... haha
Vee, China!! That's incredible!! I think if what you want is to go into 3rd worlds and help that you can! It's so interesting to see what brought everyone into nursing! So many different directions. And I really think the interview is going to be a relaxed environment, you just have to make sure you can keep yourself calm. The thing is, we all know why we're here. We just have to make sure we get it across in 4 - 5 questions!! And coffee sounds great!!!
awesome! And the the experience was incredible, worth the time and money I had to spend times a million, and cool. We will have to plan once we find out about the interviews! When should that be, do you know? Soon I hope! So Nursh- you are from the Jacksonville area? I live rather far away, in Fort Pierce, FL.. east coast maybe 6 hours south? not sure bc I haven't made the drive yet. If i'm accepted there is so much I have to do in order to make the move, find an apartment, a new job etc. I live with my boyfriend also which poses a bit of a dilemma bc I was hoping to join a sorority while I was there, but idk if I can do that with him living there too.
Yes! I am born and raised here in Jacksonville. I can definitely tell you which areas are more safe than others. How exciting! you are really winging it, huh? You go girl! are you trying to work while you're in the program? I couldn't do it. I think it might be possible in the regular program
Thanks hepx3! And thanks for the info... I know exactly what you and a few others have mentioned about knowing the answer and articulating it the way you'd like to. Some prep is definitely needed for me!
Helloonursh, thanks for the info! Yes, if you find any of that stuff I'd live to take a look! Since I'm not local I couldn't make any infi sessions but I've yet to really explore this site for possible questions.
Welcome to all the new applicants!
Veerose... I'm not local either so I'll be right there with you trying to relocate, etc.! I'm with hellonursh though, working is gonna be rough! I worked full time in undergrad it was definitely no fun and not easy. .. if there is any way around that, I'd definitely say look into it.. but that's just my two cents on it! Good for you for having that drive!
Yeah, there is no way I won't be able to work, and I've been working, hopefully I can battens in the weekends and that will pay the rent.. Or else I will have to do the restaurant thing, which I've been doing for awhile now. I hope it's not too stressful, but I don't want to take out loans for rent:/ and jeez Feb 15 ?! I NEED SOONER lol I'm checking my emails like a mad woman haha but yeah if love to know the good areas to live where I wouldn't have to worry.. I think if I get an interview, I'll take a week off of work and come up and explore
